In January 2011, AuctionBytes surveyed almost 2,800 online sellers and asked them to rate the marketplaces on which they had experience selling. An introduction to the Sellers Choice survey along with a summary of the overall ratings can be found here, along with links to results for each of the 16 online marketplaces included in the survey.

Webstore came in second place with an overall rating of 8.1 on a scale of 1 to 10. Its highest marks were for Ease of Use (8.72). Webstore's lowest marks were for Profitability (7.06) - however, that was the highest score for profitability of any marketplace, likely aided by the fact that this online marketplace doesn't charge fees. However, the biggest problem reported in the comments was of low sales.

A respondent new to the site said, "low velocity, will add more items and see what happens," and said it does "a good job of getting your listings in natural search."

Webstore is one of the few marketplaces on the list that offers auctions, which may account for some of the enthusiasm - a respondent who said they were switching from eBay to Webstore liked the fact it had buyer and seller feedback - "I also like Bonanza for ease of use but their site doesn't have auctions."

Free listings, an auction format, solid customer service and superior usability helped achieve the number two spot on this year's AuctionBytes Sellers Choice Awards.

Reader Comments - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly:
The fact they don't have listing and ending fees makes this selling platform my first choice for selling items.
Easy listings and automatic relistings. High profitability if the item sells. They make you feel as if you're part owner in the site.
The best of the eBay alternatives. No fees and growing traffic. Had a question posted to support at 4:30 am on a Sat. Had a response..from a 9:00 am.
I just started on Webstore on 1-5-11 and have not sold anything as of yet. I like Webstore because it is not overly congested with products. You can find your items quickly. The BEST part of Webstore is NO FEES!!!!! I have even posted on Facebook to all my friends that if they like auction sites, to visit Webstore, less congested!!!! I'm hoping to start to take off on Webstore, I have 177 items listed. And it cost me NOTHING!!!!!! Love this site!!!!
Response from CS is fast and courteous. Ease of use is excellent. Buyers don't play games.
I have had decent response to my listings which are mostly low profit items. They try to solve problems promptly when brought to their attention. I love the fee schedule and will continue having over 1000 listings posted at any one time.
As of yet I haven't sold anything. However, they don't charge anything to post, you get to set up your own store and they give you a lot of tools to help you sell.
I have recommended WebStore to 5 different friends selling online. They have some features they need to add but they are working on it, I know because they replied to my inquiries. Great Customer Service!!
I love working on this site, support is good, other sellers are friendly and helpful. No fees for listing means I can offer my products at a cheaper price. And the extra exposure of having your listings automatically go to your twitter account helps drive more traffic to my store on WebStore.
Needs more category breakdowns, but recently added calculated shipping at seller request. Could include other carriers in calculated shipping, but overall an excellent site and terrific venue for both buyers and sellers.
*** Is perfect quick response if any problems, completely free to buy and sell. Support in forum and on site. Plus it makes selling fun once again. Webstore staff upholds free speech there is freedom of exchange in buyer-seller feedback. Such a + there.
Even tho I haven't sold anything yet...they are always monitoring my pages to make sure that I'm listing enough information for the buyers on my products, and advise me automatically on what I need to do to improve my chances for a sale...but the best part of it all is no fee's for selling anything, only on upgrades, you don't have to keep paying every month on fees for using this or that, they don't nickel you to death to make money on you whether you sell it or not, so when you sell something its your profit not there's you feel like its your store you own pay your self, not somebody else. Even if they charged a monthly set fee for all its use, I would still sell here I can handle a once a month fee for everything it stead of it changing month to month if you sell or don't sell
Best site I have ever been on. All the others are small potatoes compared to webstore. Everything about webstore is easy to do. Best of all they have a great customer base, I am a new member but I definitely like what I see.
I have had some sales, but not as many as I would like. Webstore is very easy to use and has great promise. I have listed my store on Twitter, Facebook and google picked up my store by themselves. I feel great things can happen with Webstore, I love the way they respect the sellers on this site.
Love this site. We have done very well here. My only complaint is that there is a feedback rating. (which is fine) but buyers do not seem to leave too much in the way of feed back. Also customer service is quick to respond and actually works to help the seller and buyer break bread!
I have sold items although the turnaround time is much slower than eBay, it's a good site with definite value for sellers as long as you can wait for your item to sell at the price you want. I have sold some items for less than I wanted just to get the sale, but one item I currently have listed is flying off eBay for 15.00 to 30.00 more-they just need more exposure. It's my second favorite site after eBay.
have had problems uploading photos, sold a few items only because i sent my customer there from chatting with her. several hits but no sales from those hits.
Recently posted a few items. Same problem as Bonanza, low velocity. Will add more items and see what happens. Free is also good! They do a good job of getting your listings in natural search too.
I love no fees but selling is slow.
the only problem I find with Webstore is the lack of buying customers. Plenty of views to the items but very few buyers. Maybe my fault and not Webstore.
I have been listing on webstore for over a year and have yet to sell anything through this site. It's free, so I haven't lost money, but I sure haven't made any. They have NO customer service, as far as I can tell.
Very similar to Blujay with little to none communication with seller issues or problems from management. Like the site but is real bare bones. Good point is its free. Very little traffic but is growing. Lot of garage sale type of junk I have noticed. If you are going to sell something at least clean it up and don't see many serious sellers on that site. 1 non paid sale. At this time not worth my effort.
