Sellers Choice Marketplace Ratings: Atomic Mall
By Ina & David Steiner
In January 2011, AuctionBytes surveyed almost 2,800 online sellers and asked them to rate the marketplaces on which they had experience selling. An introduction to the Sellers Choice survey along with a summary of the overall ratings can be found here, along with links to results for each of the 16 online marketplaces included in the survey.

Atomic Mall came in eighth place overall with a score of 5.9. Its highest marks were for Customer Service (6.26) and its lowest marks were for Profitability (5.05).
Comments indicate it's a site you either love or hate; "Atomic Mall is a friendly selling site to both buyers and sellers, and is economical to use. The webmaster does an excellent job keeping the site up to date and promotes the site actively," wrote one respondent, while another wrote, "Found this site to be extremely unfriendly and unhelpful."
Some respondents reported sales, "Like the payment options. Had sales so am happy so far," and "I sell there! Good Site." Several said sales were few - "not a good place to sell - little traffic."
"Just started, wrote another respondent - "Too early to tell. Listing and editing on the site is a bit confusing as well as the help section. Okay after you figure it out."
This month, Atomic Mall launched auctions for the first time in response to seller demand. The auction format is designed to eliminate some of the problems experienced by traditional online auctions. This year's Sellers Choice ratings do not reflect AtomicMall Auctions, so keep an eye on them as the year progresses.
Reader Comments - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly:
Atomic Mall is easy to use, little to no fees, communication is great, have had no problems with Atomic Mall.
Atomic Mall is a great place to sell. While my sales aren't high right now, I enjoy having a place to list my items. I like that fact that I only pay a fee if I sell an item. I don't like the fact that sellers keep having to front $5 until they use that up in fees, then have to front $5 again. My overall rating for this site would be excellent.
Atomic Mall cares about not only the buyers but the sellers as well. Mike, the owner, takes time to stay on top of things so the seller can benefit from his continued support. Fees are fair, support is always available and the other sellers are great
The variety of payment methods integrated into the site is very attractive to buyers and the numerous search engines that are submitted to give sellers great exposure. Overall, the best thought out alternative site I have ever seen or used.
I moved my store to AM from eBay 2 years ago, and I could not be happier. Sales are consistent, service is impeccable, and improvements to the site are constant. The owner REALLY cares, and it shows.
Of all the sites on which I sell, Atomic Mall has generated the most sales, has terrific customer service, and is all-around the best site I have found from a seller's perspective.
I have tried a half dozen other sites over the last 6 years and I have never received the kind of customer service that I get at Atomic Mall. In fact in most of these sites I felt lucky if I received any service at all.
It is the best site in my opinion. I have sold on many online sites but have had the best all around experience on Atomic mall.
My # of sales at Atomic Mall have increased dramatically in the past 60 days
Very poor assistance and I paid to be there and the hard time they gave me trying to sell there I wanted out and my money back well they never gave me my money back!!
Invested two full years in Atomic Mall with ZERO sales - not one sale in a full Two Years with over 500 items for sale. Very little traffic to the site. Very Easy and Inexpensive to list but with Zero Sales, those points are moot - liken it to setting up a massive retail store in a deserted condemned strip mall with no parking lot or roadway access.
I tried Atomic Mall a year or two ago and wasn't thrilled with how it was set-up. I remember the fees being okay. I didn't get an excited feeling being there, so I left.
Very hard to maneuver around to get from one screen to another, found it cluttered.
Was a seller there for 2 years - a few months after the launch of this venue. Owner Mike had alot on his plate...but then I noticed the change in the attitude and it seemed he catered more to his top sellers and listers. The last transaction I had there after having over 200 sales made me close up shop. I felt like I was being treated like an Ebay seller! Almost like a kick in the pants when I asked if he could help rectify a problem with a happy buyer that left negative FB in my score but praised me in the FB comment line. Strangely Mike didn't seem to care and that's why I called it quits with AM.
We thank all readers who took the time to rate the marketplaces. If you have comments about the survey results or the survey itself, please feel free to post them in the AuctionBytes Blog.
