Tommy Hilfiger opened a store on eBay last month, joining Calvin Klein, Timberland, Brooks Brothers, Marc Ecko, Aldo, Jockey and other fashion brands in selling directly on eBay. Tommy Hilfiger is a 3-billion euro apparel and retail company and sells its products in department and specialty stores in over 65 countries and operates over 900 retail stores around the world.

eBay has transformed its Clothing Shoes and Accessories category into a Fashion portal with flash sales on the Fashion Vault, and new designs, enhanced navigation and the ability to create personalized Fashion Shopping Profiles. eBay has also entered into agreements with designers for exclusive designs. Next week, Derek Lam will unveil an eBay-exclusive dress collection at a presentation during Fashion Week and simultaneously at dereklam.ebay.com.

The moves in fashion are part of eBay's category-based shopping experiences that it hopes will help to reinvigorate eBay.com.

eBay entices designer brands with special marketing perks that include a presence on the eBay home page and other landing pages, email marketing campaigns, and the ability to include Facebook and Twitter links in their product listings - perks not available to small sellers.
