Zagat Puts Restaurant Spin on Daily Deals

Zagat Survey, the company famous for its guides to restaurants, hotels and entertainment, announced a group-buying program powered by DealOn. Zagat Exclusives provide consumers with special offers at Zagat-rated restaurants and will be available on Zagat.com, DealOn.com and the DealOn network.

Zagat Exclusives will be offered in limited quantities for a fixed sale period. Unlike group-buying services such as Groupon.com, the Zagat service will not require a minimum group purchase - each offer will begin with a fixed price, the price will decrease as more people buy the deal. The lowest price reached at the end of the sale period is the amount each purchaser will pay.

"The group buying model continues to gain popularity, and we intend to provide the best possible service for both consumers and restaurateurs," said Tim Zagat, CEO of Zagat Survey. "Diners who are passionate about where they eat will have confidence in knowing that these specials will be offered only in Zagat-Rated restaurants."

Zagat Exclusives will kick off in September 2010 in New York City and rapidly roll out to other major metro areas, including Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
