Online auction site uBid has named Jeffrey D. Hoffman its new CEO, replacing Robert H. Tomlinson, Jr., current CEO, who had announced his intention to step down in March. Hoffman was a cofounder of Priceline and held two CEO positions at Priceline companies. Hoffman was also CEO and founding partner of Virtual Shopping Inc., a developer of patented, proprietary online retailing systems.

Hoffman was quoted in the press release announcing the appointment, "I am thrilled to be part of the uBid.com team, and firmly believe that the company is poised to move to the next level in its growth and secure its position as a true market leader in on-line retailing and customer satisfaction. We have an exciting list of innovations and new products and services that we can't wait to unveil, so expect to hear a lot more from us in the near future."
