ABTV Interview: Seth Godin on eBay Marketing Techniques

Email This Story to a Friend

Best-selling author and Internet marketing guru Seth Godin shared advice for eBay sellers in an interview currently airing on AuctionBytes.TV. Godin, a renowned speaker and author of such books as "Permission Marketing" and "Purple Cow," revealed best practices common to successful online merchants.

Godin said eBay sellers can choose to become commodity sellers and get commodity prices, or they can choose to build an audience of people who want to hear from them. Those sellers who choose the latter strategy gain more power, have greater leverage and have more fun, Godin said.

AuctionBytes.TV reporter Ina Steiner asked Godin about his new venture, Squidoo.com. Godin explained its value to eBay sellers, who can use the free service to build credibility and gain exposure. Squidoo is built on the premise, everyone's an expert about something.

Seth Godin has written many best-selling books and is a sought-after speaker. He was founder and CEO of Yoyodyne, the industry's leading interactive direct marketing company, acquired by Yahoo in 1998. He holds an MBA from Stanford, and was called "the Ultimate Entrepreneur for the Information Age" by Business Week.

The entire interview with Seth Godin can be seen on the Features channel of AuctionBytes.TV.
