Ztail on eBay and the Secondary Market at Shop.org Summit
|
Sun Oct 4 2009 15:40:32 |
AuctionBytes editor Ina Steiner sat down with Ztail co-founder and CEO Bill Hudak during the recent Shop.org Summit in Las Vegas to talk about trends in the secondary market. The topic was top-of-mind at the conference this year, with a keynote from eBay CEO John Donahoe and a panel session with executives from Woot.com and the Gilt Groupe (Gilt.com). Consumers know they can get value out of their purchases, which should mean more sales in both the primary and secondary markets, Bill said. He talks about Ztail's model, which puts a unique spin on trade-ins by guaranteeing resale prices at the point of purchase, and said refurbishing returns and trade-ins offer opportunities for PowerSellers. As for retailers and manufacturers, they should not be afraid, he said: discount shopping can build brand awareness and loyalty for their brands. Sun Sept 27 2009 11:28:03 |
Jochen Krisch, a consultant based in Munich Germany, is one of the leading experts on new shopping models and publishes the ExcitingEcommerce.com blog. AuctionBytes Editor Ina Steiner caught up with Jochen at the 2009 Shop.org annual summit. In this podcast, he discusses the Shop.org session, "Reinventing Online Retail: Radical Business Models That Are Paying Off Today" featuring Joshua Goldman, General Partner at Norwest Venture Partners; Susan Lyne of Gilt Groupe; and Matt Rutledge of Woot.com. Jochen said smaller sellers can take advantage of "event-based" shopping models like those from Gilt.com and Woot.com, which give shoppers a reason to come to the site, as well as crowd-sourcing models like Threadless. Jochen also touches on eBay Germany, whose daily deal feature is called eBay Wow. Jochen Krisch's posts can also be seen on the Optaros blog. Run time: 4:55
