eBay's "How far can we push them?" I've been at this for a minute, longer than I can remember to be honest. It was hard to get going at first with a few failed attempts trying to get traction in the market. In the beginning it was exciting to start making a few bucks and watch it grow with hard work and determination. The more you put in the more you get back kind of thing, a little like farming.
I remember my 1st bad review that I could not turn around. I lost sleep for weeks. I've only had few over the years. But, I have had a few that was nothing more than being blackmailed. You know the game... "you let keep the item and send a partial or full refund and I will not slap you with a bad review" This (*&^ me OFF! And eBay was no help unless you found a operator that was not going to allow it to happen.
I have stories... If you sell for anytime at all you have them too. This is the stuff I learned to live with though, understanding without buyers there is no market for sellers, so I took the red pill and it was just the way it was, even if the buyer had zero feedback and a month old account.
But then sellers started getting bullied by the company, it was subtle at first, but, during Covid? The "How far can we push them?" campaign seemed to start.
No more call-in support, we lost PayPal which made life so easy. That seemed to be the Trojan horse for the rate hike. Now instead of 10 or 11 % I pay 16% and shipping and tax appears to be considered as "MY PROFIT" as well.
You can play numbers all you want to make it look like we are not being taxed by eBay on the Sales tax and shipping collected, but it still comes to 16%. I sure did really took it personal when I knew, and heart breaking to have fails, but it makes you stronger over time.
I just can not understand why a few smart kids have not built a platform to compete with the MONSTER that we have created. Or do I secretly just like the punishment? If asked. I DO NOT. Yet I continue.
