Will eBay Exempt Bullion from Managed Payments?

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
I saw your story on the bullion category and Managed Payments. The coins/bullion category has been exempt from MP since MP was announced a couple of years ago. Sellers in that category continue to sell on eBay using PayPal.

It is my understanding it is MP's payment processor that will not process coins/bullion sales, thus the exemption for coins/bullion category by eBay.

Coins/bullion category is one of eBay's top sales category. It is hard to imagine eBay would shut down their top category in July when MP comes online for most of eBay.

Won't it be business as usual? eBay is not so stupid as to shut down their top selling category. Time will tell.

Well, eBay and intelligence do live on separate planets.

"Know your categories

3. Home & Garden
4. Automotive
5. Sporting goods
6. Health & Beauty
7. Consumer electronics
8. Jewelry & Watches
9. Computers Tablets & Networking
10. Collectables
11. Pet Supplies
12. Baby"

If Terapeak or eBay is spelling #10 above as Collectables, they are doomkopfs [sic?] lol. It's Collectible.

Collectable describes items able to be collected. (e.g., payments, keys).

Collectible describes items considered worthy of collecting by enthusiasts (e.g., coins, stamps).

Sorry......I'm a stickler ;)

@Castoman

Terapeak originated in Canada.

Britons use Collectable more then they use Collectible, maybe Canada's Terapeak has British roots. . . .

Ebay is scrounging for every dime. Bullion isn't going to get a free ride anymore. You people are like a gold mine to Ebay and they are looking at you with glassie eyes like they have struck pay dirt.

Remember that old saying, "Don't sell anything on eBay that you can't afford to lose?" I can't imagine selling gold on ebay. The big dealers must have their own systems for doing it safely. Do they have a special arrangment with eBay to reject any buyer and collect the money themselves?
