Reader Advises Canadians to Be Wary of China Overtures

Dear Ina,
Just thought I'd drop you a line about your article, "Alibaba Founder Jack Ma Woos Canadian Businesses."

China has already gleened America so now their targeting Canada? Trudeau should be very careful about being "wooed" by China. Once they have the product in hand they simply set about knocking whatever it is off.

I know firsthand - I am a Chinese victim of copyright infringement. Their love affair with Canada will be short term.

Canada like the US will be shortsighted and enjoy the one time only fling....ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

None of them care about fairness, as its only about the money...

''Ma said. “We say, ‘today is difficult, tomorrow is more difficults, but the day-after-tomorrow is beautiful.”''

I saw that movie; The Day After.  Didn't work out so 'beautifully' for North America.

But seriously....Alibaba is a seller, no?  Why would they be courting potential competition for their own increasingly empowered RNBIs?  What's in it for them?  And are not the online paths to CA goods already available to any CN interested?  Or is Alibaba seeking to enlarge their (international) seller base?

I'd vote for the latter, and the copycat element noted in the OP.

The Chinazon sellers have been all over my Amazon.ca listings for quite some time. But, it does seem like Amazon Canada responds much more quickly than amazon.com in booting these sellers off.

I've reported listings to Amazon with "knockoff" right in the title and Amazon's little robots always respond that there's no evidence that the seller is selling knockoffs.

China copies EVERYTHING it's rooted Very Deep in their culture, to the Chinese it's a good thing to copy, and to be copied,

Get use to it, and while you're at it, start learning how to speak, read and write Chinese, your future and your children's future will depend on it

RKTOYS - I've recently seen that on ebay as well - there is no end to corporate greed

I think the fact that the USA have received packaged dog food from China with plastic parts in it is all one needs to know. Buyer beware.
