Vintage Seller Seeks Opportunities at Amazon

By: Reader

Sponsored Link

An online seller with a retail shop is wondering if Amazon will open its site up to vintage goods as Etsy and eBay disappoint.

Dear Ina,
Any intel on Amazon including vintage sellers?

I'm on Etsy and it's a mess there. eBay is the same. I own a brick and mortar and my online shop is a great marketing tool.
Thanks!
Carolyn

@Carolyn - What categories of items are you selling? You don't indicate what other than they are vintage.

You should check here to see what categories are available (note there are a lot that are restricted):

Carolyn,

If you have ''vintage'' unique items, you can list them on Amazon Handmade.

Then Amazon can steal your idea, and have a lookalike of your item made in China, and they will be your new competitor.

Is this even legal?? You bet! When you sign up to sell on the site, in the fine print it states you have no control over Amazon copying your merchandise.

This, coupled with the shipping allowance paid for by the buyer which does not cover your mailing costs, and the high fees, well, if you can make your own website work, you would be much better off.

A few frequent ECB bloggers also mention eCrater. It may be worth taking a look at.

I either ask for an exemption or buy upcs for my vintage - more of which will be going on amazon all summer long

Really...vintage what? jelly jars, ashtrays, nicknacks, clothes? Good luck at Amazon with there 35% cut and much more if nothing sells there either.

I agree with sanddogg, it heavily depends on what you have.  For example for Lego you might want to try Bricklinks, Hot Wheels, other model cars and a number of other toys and models my website hobbyDB would be a good choice.  And so on, just list what you have and there might be another great site out there for you.
