eBay Should Pick Director with Ecommerce Experience
Re: eBay Adds 'Social' Executive to Its Board of Directors (link)
The announcement of Hammer to the Board of Directors does not seem to bode well for eBay sellers. Looking at who she currently works for, NBCU, is owned by Comcast.
Comcast is fighting the Net Neutrality Act where they would like to charge companies and users fees to have higher rankings in searches by paying more in fees.
If she is one that works for and supports Comcast, then she will have no problem in charging more for internet services.
With this being said, I fear for eBay sellers that she would support higher seller fees without any compunction.
NBCUniversal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies in the development, production, and marketing of entertainment, news and information to a global audience. NBCUniversal owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, world-renowned theme parks, and a suite of leading Internet-based businesses. NBCUniversal is a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation.
From what I have read, she may have experience in software and information services but absolutely no experience with ecommerce.
I do not consider this "Good News." How about hiring someone with common sense and experience in ecommerce? How about a "real" person with practical experience?
Why eBay continues to shoot themselves in the foot is beyond me!
