eBay Favors Large Businesses over Local Mom-and-Pops

Notice all over the place today Donahoe is being quoted as endorsing BitCoin and saying PayPal may embrace it. Hold on a minute. Let me get this straight. Donahoe hides out completely for two weeks after the hacking event at eBay and now his first statements are about an artificial currency with imaginary backing??? One would think he would be more considered about the massive requests for his resignation as CEO of eBay. One petition is pushing 3,000 signatures now and Congressman Barton of Texas and Congressman Rush of Illinois have launched an investigation into eBay. Is it just me, or am I missing something here?

Most of us know in principle and in the abstract that ebay favors everyone and everything that isn't a small and/or mom and pop seller or a preferred seller shill bidding operation.

But the abstract becomes quite concrete and very sad when those who ebay so willfully damages and destroys tell their stories.

Unfortunately yours and other similar stories won't reach the ears that might be able to facilitate change.

After all, The Ho just discovered Bitcoin which could be declared an unsafe payment method.

Perhaps the compensation committee will rule that Donahoe be paid in bitcoin currency.

In my mind, he is definitely worth some unproven imaginary currency.

Its no wonder, shoplet is over on Walmart also, probably on Amazon also, don't remember seeing them there though. Years ago I purchased an office supply I couldn't find anywhere, I didn't like their site, emails were constant and I had to treat them as junk, I don't think they are so cheap.

Who knows?  ebay may be buying them.

I took a look at that shopify site but you need your own unique item or create it. More and more sites are appearing now, I think ebay has had its run.

Was it mentioned here about Omniture/Adobe? Isn't Omniture similar to spyware?

It came across that way while reading at their site.

Board Members are heavily invested in Bitcoib- Marc Andreson ibn particular has a HUGE investment in Bitcoin.

My question is: WHY would JD WANT Bitcoin and not regular Paypal payments?????

You're not missing anything at all. Ebay is doing what they have always done; they make a blunder, in this case a very big one, hind out in the bunker for a while then come out later and act like nothing happened.

They've dropped bomb after bomb on sellers who get angry then carry on as usual doing business with ebay. The hack affects both sellers and buyers but still no public statement from ebay?

If Dohna-dolt is pushing for bitcoin then he must have some way to capitalize on it.

If I remember correctly, bitcoin can be used in a fashion which is difficult to trace which makes it attractive to the criminal element. Considering ebays actions this past number of years, adding bitcoin might be right up their alley.

Just think how hard it might be to tell where the money is coming from or going to. Adding bitcoin to ebay might further their ability to swindle shareholders with their creative book-cooking quarterly reports.

Wasn't bitcoin the only payment method accepted by the online drug site ''silk road''?

@RCL - I agree with Philip Cohen: There's nothing more than can be said. JD thinks you're noise if you aren't Toys R Us or one of the other mega-million dollar companies. I'd never heard of Linda's Stuff, but after reading reviews online, it appears they are one of JD's "gems," selling misrepresented merchandise and gouging people with high shipping charges. It also appears that it takes forever for people to receive the money for items Linda sold. No wonder she's a JD-preferred seller.

At least Linda’s auctions appear generally to be clear of shill bidding, unlike many others selling via auction; she appears to generally start her auctions at the minimum she is prepared to accept ...

Regardless, my earlier analysis of Linda, and many others, indicates that, for some time now, all has not well for such merchants on the eBay Marketplace, undoubtedly due to the efforts of eBay's current chief headless turkey, Johnny Ho; for example, the lady from Chicago appears to be paying eBay FVFs on so many faux sales, I simply don’t know how she survives ...

Didn't Richard Brannigan take a bunch of BITCOIN for a flight on his Virgin Space Project--and had it changed into REAL MONEY the instant they got it?  

Now THERE is a guy who has proved he knows HOW to do business in many spheres.

And who is a bit of a showboater and knows a thing or two about publicity stunts.  

So---I am guessing that this was in part a publicity gag.  BUT the fact that they ACCEPTED it AS payment---but did not TRUST it for longer than it took to RE-SELL it---makes me SURE of this!

And didn't the person who claimed to be responsible for the ebay hack and releasing some of the info they got DEMAND to be paid in--Bitcoin---for more info? And YES "SilkRoad" was and is a center for illegal activity and YES they DO their business at least in part via Bitcoin.  

I wonder if the Ho is going to try and hide a few MORE billions offshore via Bitcoin.

Maybe he will take his invisible currency and disappear into invisibility.
