Google Shopping Prohibits Ads for Online Courses

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
We sell online courses as well as disc based, and our online only courses, since they are not tangible goods, have no place, according to Google, in Shopping. I asked if we can show an image of the course's content menu and was told no.

Google is losing revenue on this one. Think of all the educational companies that offer online training courses. Our courses used to be disc based but times have changed but Google is behind the times on this one.

Do you have any printed materials that accompany the course? If not... perhaps a printed ''Welcome Packet'' or instruction book. Would something tangible like that be sufficient?

I suspect that Google wants to avoid the scourge that plagued eBay for many years... those ''e-Books'' with resell rights. (The buy-it-once and sell-it-a-million-times business model always reminded me of pyramid schemes.)

That seems somewhat strange since Google Checkout is only for intangible goods now. Maybe they're mad at the OP for using another payment method.
