New to eBay and Can't Figure Out How to Get Paid

Go to your Seller Hub on eBay.  Click on the 'Payments' tab, then click on "Summary".  This will show all your payments 'available' (for transfer to your bank account), and below this, funds 'on hold' (they usually hold funds for a short while if you're a new seller) and funds 'processing' (where someone's just paid you and eBay takes several days before they make the funds available for transfer).  To the right of the screen, it shows where your funds go (name of your financial institution) and your payout schedule (how often they make a transfer to your account).  You can change either of these by clicking 'edit' or 'change' as appropriate.  When a transfer is made, you'll receive a 'payout' email confirming this.

STEP 3 : Try some place else. NOT Etsy.

You are likely being affected by the rule for New sellers and sellers returning to selling after 90+ days away.  This is something Ebay has done for years.

As to your Managed Payments account.  You set if you want Daily or Weekly Payouts.  That is Seller choice.

“Your partner” doesn’t trust you, do it asks you to send off your item all while it holds your funds and makes $$$$$$ of the interest (bank).

Being they are “the good mafiosos”, in a few days/weeks they *may* give you your money less any fees it thinks it deserves.

Meanwhile, your get the honor u to o be renting your item to an eBay stooge buyer at no cost.

Heaven help you if said stooge claims”SNAD” or any thing else - you may then NEVER get any money and may never even get back your item.

Oh yeh, if they file a chargeback against you - you are %100 SOL.

eBay makes it almost too easy to be cynical these days - a decade plus in the making of the most confusing and borderline criminal process ever contrived to ‘help’ John and Mary Q. turn their ‘trash into cash’.  Some (near and dear) can even show how they crossed that boundary in too many cases too.  

All it takes is a bit of research to discover for oneself those details.  Just like, to be fair, all it takes is a bit of research - BEFORE one attempts it - into what it takes (will take) to get paid when they’re new to it.  Sounds like the OP didn’t do that; re: “mumbo jumbo..”.  Which it is to be sure, and made unilaterally acceptable ‘by default’ no less.  Thus the importance of getting through the language and asking questions first, no matter which ‘partner’ one might choose.

Slanted to ‘monitize’ though, it’s especially critical with these guys to fully understand what your signing up to and what it will take to complete a sale and get paid before trying.   Even then, as too often too late for comfort, sales ‘complications’ arise simply by eBay inserting themselves with arrogant condescension into every facet of the transaction, skimming as it goes.  

eBay doesn’t stop a ‘new’ seller from trying anyway though.  Because those not only ‘replace’ a seasoned seller who has had enough of eBay’s sticky fingers and unreachable unempowered ‘service’ - from support, to their ‘we can do it better for you’ processes.  But also because they make the ‘most’ from those in the short term, and they help to maintain eBay’s illusion of stability to those who might be (also ignorant of the weeds) willing to invest in their stock.

Which is all they care about.  Which is why you get no service, and why they justify holding funds and wresting control of operations - and seller inventory.  Also why they look for every occasion to sanction a seller in so many creative ways.  

And so, just as they continue to ‘justify’ their ham handedness by pointing to the ignorance of inexperience, here comes another ‘new guy’ (vintage ‘watch’, imagine that) who didn’t ‘bother’ to de-mumbo the jumbo, no matter what their reason.  

And it will, unfortunately, continue as long as long as folks who want to (or need to) sell are taken in by their hype and flash of easy Benjamin’s.  It’s not easy though.  

Fortunately, there is help (here for example), even on the boards sometimes, and of course, in their own written policies and TOS.  Still, that’s the lazy way sometimes.  And tragically, sometimes too late too.

The best help is being awake and alert and prepared, before putting on that safari gear to venture onto the eCom jungle.  Especially with eBay as a ‘guide’.  See, they don’t have to be faster than the Lions.  They just have to be faster than you.  

And when not, have no conscience when it may come to tripping you up during the chase.  Welcome to the jungle where feeding the animals is mandatory.  And if you get eaten up by it all, there are plenty more tourists in line.

HNY!  May the Gods of 21st C mail order have mercy on your soul.  Because eBay surely won’t.

I can't help but wonder why people jump into selling without learning how the site works and how & when they'll get paid!
