Amazon Curtails a Small, Longtime Bookseller

Dear Ina,
I don't know if anyone else has reported this to you but in my Amazon sold file I had about 8000 listings that I have sold since 2016 and now I am out of stock.

Last weekend I started getting dozens of emails like the one below from Amazon. I can no longer sell these items (well over 100 so far) without approval. WHEN I TRY TO GET APPROVAL I  RECEIVE A MESSAGE THAT SAYS THEY ARE NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS.

This has been going on for some time with DVDs, CDs and textbooks but the books they are now ending are very common 20 year books, I have never seen so many at one time before, it's usually 1 month or less.

I was getting so many that I have now deleted almost all of my closed listings.

This gives the big sellers a huge advantage over the small sellers and if this keeps up I probably won't be able to list any titles in 6 months or a year at the most.

Welcome to the world of Amazon's gating practices.  They keep gating more and more.   I just list the items somewhere else, and I normally make more profit due to the fact that Amazon's fees are so high.

I, too, have had issues trying to sell my books through Amazon. I sold a lot of books 20 years ago through Amazon (Yes, they've been around that long!)  Sold a few in the past 5 years, but have been mostly inactive.

Well, now I must provide them with photo copy attachments for proof of identity. OK--no problem. Except that every time I sent those documents the response was--''Sorry--we can't read them to verify your identity.''.  Needless to say, I gave up.

I've been an Amazon member from the beginning. I've sold many books in the past & had a 100% rating. I am an Amazon Prime member, I use Amazon credit cards for both my personal use & my business use...etc.,etc. If they don't know who I by now? My seller's account settings still exist, but I am unable to add any inventory until I ID myself.

But that's it, I've had enough. These sites, which include Etsy & eBay, as well as Amazon, are simply not worth the time, effort & being pushed around that is encountered now.

i sell books on amazon.  the only books that i have run into a gating problem on have been ones published by marvel where they ask for me to apply to be a seller.  from what i've read on the boards this gating problem seems to be mainly a problem with books that are quantity 0 but the listing still exists in a sellers inventory.

i am really curious to see some sample isbns of books that have been attempted to  be listed but are now blocked.
