eBay Seller Gets Defect over a Not-Authorized Payment Dispute

Dear Ina,
Your readers should be aware of this scenario.

Recently I had an eBay sale, paid through PayPal where the customer opened a “not-authorized” payment dispute within 1/2 hour of the payment.

Ok, no big deal right?

No!! I go to eBay to cancel the transaction and eBay says I cannot cancel due to the PayPal dispute.

Now I go to PayPal and to do a refund. NOPE! The refund is initiated but is under review by PayPal. PayPal takes 72 hours to review the dispute email me that they have decided in the buyer's favor (the big surprise is that it took so long).

Prior to the PayPal dispute conclusion, I contact eBay and tell them that the PayPal dispute review will bust my 1 business-day ship policy and asked what should I do?? The eBay CSR says "no worry we will remove any feedback or account defects".

So, after the PayPal dispute closure I see my account has a late Tracking upload defect. I contact eBay to request that they cancel the transaction, refund the FVF and remove the defect.

Answer: They don't know how to cancel the transaction, they do refund the FVF, they REFUSE to remove the late Tracking Defect (their system won't enable it).

I tried to talk to a supervisor in real time but got an email back explaining their policy.

Please do not use my name.

This is exactly why when the idiot from Walmart said that "he aspires to Make eBay the Partner of Choice for Sellers" .......... we all say hes full of garbage (cause he is).

Maybe the "SLEEPING GRIFF OF SELLER PROTECTION" (another idiot - that wrote a book about being an idiot and selling on eBay) could be woken up and he could swing into action (like Batman) and help this HONEST seller from being screwed by eBay .........

Chances are that this WONT ever happen.

eBay 1, seller 0 - just the way they like it.

This is what we get for believing all the hype from US Chamber of Commerce and "Americans for Prosperity" that binding arbitration would benefit small businesses and that making it in general harder to sue large corporations would result in trickle down benefits.

I would have just shipped the item because PP covers you on these.....I'm not losing a sale or money over some clown who renegs on his bid and then files that.
