Scammer Gets Past eBay Messaging System

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
Hope all is well with you. Today I received the second message in three months from a member in the Ukraine attempting to get my approval to have him look to sale what I have in my eBay store there.

From the Editor: The message the seller forwarded said the sender was going to post one of his products and do SEO to boost sales - "Check out the link attached to that letter, Regards," it said.

It's best never to click on links sent in unsolicited messages, whether through a marketplace's messaging system, email, or text.

I had the same messages every week for a few months, I would report them to eBay, & beg them to take care of it, because you just knew the link had to be malicious. Always from Ukraine & zero feedback, a new profile each time. They targeted my most expensive items. I told EBay I was going to report it to the media, & that is when they ended. For now at least.
