Seller Gets Tagged with No Protection from eBay
I received a return on eBay that had the tags removed. Under the old policy the return would have been void because the item was not returned in original condition, i.e the tags have been removed.
I was informed under the new Streamline returns that's no longer the case. The only way I can protect myself is to offer free returns for buyer remorse.
The CS rep informed me that it was tough luck I was having, but I really should consider free returns. Nothing like getting a $70 dollar sweatshirt back that you can't now resell and then being told to pay for your buyer's returns.
Note I still only would have been able to discount the price by up to 50%, so even with paying for returns, I would still be out on the transaction.
I am so baffled by all of this and can't believe that it's now OK to return items in any condition, if that seller doesn't pay for the returns for buyer's remorse. I sell mostly low value items, and many include free shipping, so paying for returns is a model that just doesn't work for me.
