Seller Says eBay Sales Turn On and Off

Dear Ina,
I've always been one of those folks who were on the fence regarding the "can't see me" (Cassini) search on eBay. I am now convinced eBay either hides sellers on a rotating basis or hides individual listings.

I've had a listing that started June 3rd for a very obscure medical supply. Reasonably priced including free shipping. I sold my first lot on June 28th. Then nothing...until last weekend.

Suddenly, on September 9th, I sold four lots to one buyer and then again on September 10th I sold another lot. This listing had 171 views from 6/3/19 to 9/10/19.

I believe one of the following two scenarios were in play:

1) my listings as a SELLER were hidden or

2) my listing for this particular ITEM was hidden.

My price, including free shipping, would still be the best value on eBay today. What I don't understand, is why this is happening at a company who is trying to squeeze every single penny out of every single seller. Why not show all listings to buyers and let them make their best choice? I am not TRS, but do have 100% positive reviews since 1998.

This is all just an egalitarian socialist type experiment.....social justice applied to e-commerce.  Their attempt to “share” and redistribute the wealth of sales...how’s that working out?  Instead of the normal culling vi capitalism, let’s make everyone poor via socialism.  They can they say everyone is treated the same.  Except the Chinese....no touchy them.

It's not just the reduction in buyers, it appears to me that the nuttier ones are out there in force. I had a buyer two days ago. Purchased, Paid. She emailed me at 11pm last night to cancel. Then five more emails, each getting more panicked and crazy. Then she tried to open an item not as described.

Because I had an appointment this morning, I didn't get to read all those lovely messages until 10 am. Of course I immediately refunded and blocked. Now, in the past few months, I have had more of these types of buyers. It's getting a tad scary.

I would never sell on a site that made me worry about how things turn out between my customer and me. I'm the one in charge of my business and I will handle it professionally and fairly.

If a customer has a problem with my policies, then they can shop elsewhere in the future. I do not need customers that unnecessarily cause issues, especially when they're trying to steal from me.

I have never had a complaint from my decent customers and I've only had one person try to defraud me over the years (to no avail). I handled that situation completely on my own and she could see that I knew what I was doing and wasn't going to get anywhere with me, so gave up. I was completely professional and friendly throughout the exchange, so it didn't even require making threats.

Now, how would that have turned out had I involved a third-party to act as mediator? They most likely would have sided with the buyer with her SNAD claim when everything was right there in black and white and numerous photos of every inch and angle of the item.

It was a brand new, never used item, so the condition she was referring to, which was clearly visible in pictures, was merely how the product was intentionally made. It wasn't a defect and my photos and description couldn't have been clearer.

I know I have all my bases covered and am confident when I'm faced with such things, so I don't need a middleman. I've never had a PayPal claim filed against me, but I'm sure I wouldn't have issues with them, either, due to my perfect track record that I've had for nearly 20 years.

To clarify "threats"...I'm referring to getting the law involved.
