Why does eBay ALLOW me to send and receive phone numbers in my messages?

Better to use a penny auction, let the recipient bid, end early w/ them as winner, and use that info to send the gift.

Lots of possibilities due to how awful most H1B duhvelopers are.  I have seen poorly performing code randomly/intermittently shut off because they couldn't/wouldn't fix it.  It also could be where your phone numbers are in the message.  Remember, this is a site where searches for "Marvel Comics" and "Comics Marvel" return two different sets of results.  Maybe they _are_ flagging you but whatever process mails you a warning is broken and nobody is checking it.  Such is the state of computing in 2017.

I've seen some sellers who mention there FB name. It doesn't take much brain power to simply contact them there.

On a side note I see some lengthy responses here that are  unformatted and thus very difficult to read. I'd like to read them so please use paragraphs, thanks.

eBay has no OTHER reason for cracking down on this except to crack down on fee avoidance ... why else would they be so insane about it?

While I personally havent had the pleasure to do any off eBay sales lately - if I feel its in my best interest to do so - I will wholeheartedly.

eBay has no qualms about short changing (stealing) me - why should I care (1) iota about how much they make? or dont make?

They have BILLIONS sitting offshore, the people in charge make many many thousands, and eBay seems to RELISH trying to hurt me and other fellow sellers.

eBay - cry me a river about your lost FVFs.

As said - say it in piglatin, hebrew, french, spanish etc - eBays 5th rate programmers will never figure it out.

BTW - its mostly bots that scour emails for these infractions, not people - they just have them "wound tight" to insure they (as Aerosmith says) "doesnt miss a thing".

If Ebay is still allowing you to send that phone number, then you just haven't been caught yet OR you are sending it to a buyer you have a current transaction with.  Ebay has been clear, NO contact information is to be shared except with those you have a transaction with.

1) the only numbers I would need are single females - but since my wife would frown on it (for good reason) I'll decline your generous offer

2) Id do it in another language or spell it out - you have to remember we are dealing with eBay here - you know - morons (blazing saddles reference)

3) this isnt really an issue for me - most people who want to by quantities of the things I sell (marshall, urbanears, casio) know how to find me already and are smart enough to evade the idiots in San Jose

4) Im fully aware of the lengths that eBay will go to when they get a stupid idea in their head (look at fake SNADS or 60 day returns or the feedback system) so the OPs letter DOESNT surprise me - at all

5) nothing (in general) that eBay does makes sense or shocks me - when they claim that they will try to charge a seller if they feel that an attempt was made to go off eBay "even if they didnt" - that was the indication (never mind desperation)  but of the lawlessness that reigns supreme at eBay.
