eBay Seller Sees Rise in 'Unauthorized Purchase' PayPal Reports

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
Are there eBay sellers showing concerns about increase in customers filing cases for "Unauthorized Purchase" on PayPal.

We have received about 6 cases in a month. Previous to this we only receive about 1 every two years.

Are there other eBay sellers asking you about this?

I mean these are regular eBay orders. We received orders on our eBay accounts/stores. Ship it the next day as required for top rated sellers. Then a few day later we receive cases like the one mentioned above.

Our company have been selling on eBay for 7 years.
Thank you.
E.

I had 3 in August.

All 3 happened 2-3 days after I shipped - which is about when they would have gotten the items being they were shipped Priority Mail.

I relished talking to the bozos at Paypal, since each sale was "seller protected" - and I knew they were going to have to eat the losses (-$400 for them!).

I guess they REALLY need the extra money on the cc percentages - since their fraud protection .... isnt working.

I had one Unauthorized Purchase claim that was about three months post order and where the tracking was no longer in the system.  I was fortunate to win that one, as I should have.

Just a couple of days ago, I  had a buyer purchase something, pay and then quickly ask to cancel the order.  I imagine she was shown a better deal.  I didn't know eBay did that and I don't think it's a good excuse to back out of your commitment as a buyer.

What? Scammers abusing PayPig's virtual No-Q's-Asked Refund Policy?  Can't be. PayPig is a "secure" payment service. The Hoe keeps saying it, and this Bainiac wouldn't lie to you!  So sorry you shipped the item in good faith and now you're screwed.

just to be really cynical, have any sellers been in touch with the buyers, to see if these 'unauthorized payments' & chargebacks are actually genuine?

With Ebafial driving a wedge between buyer & seller, who's to say PeePee ain't just clawing back for themselves?

Yup- BB figured it out- ebay is showing similar items AT checkout and it is causing ALL of this- buyers are LYING and saying "Unauthorized" to get out of deals to save $2.

Ebay: Does it occur strange to you that a buyer claims "unauthorized" and then, 38 seconds later, buys the same widget for a $1.89 less?? Can't your "sophisticated algorythyms" SEE this??

This CEO "transition" is not working.
