I sold an item to a buyer on eBay today. She called me because she had purchased the same item in Grand Cayman but they were so late - 2 months late - that she purchased it from me and plans on refusing theirs.
She called me about this and told me how she does not shop much on eBay these days because when she puts an item into the search, the search returns with really cheap low quality but super inexpensive Chinese items when she is looking for high quality jewelry.
She has so much trouble finding what she is looking for on eBay that she gives up. I have that same problem myself. I used to be a big eBay shopper but so many great products that are not trendy require such digging you would have to have tons of leisure time and just want to hang out shopping on eBay so we leave and don't buy anything!
It's funny that they send out messages to buyers saying "shop with top rated sellers" when they have all these deals like they want to be the next Alibaba. They do not know if they want to be Amazon, Target, Michael Kors or Alibaba. Do they want to be big box Walmart? These are the type of items they want to sell with the Chinese sellers.
I am glad they say they want to help the Chinese economy, what about having a search that pulls up close to what the buyer is looking for in quality and name and identifier?
They say if an item has been up a long time, they told me even if someone types up the exact title it may not show up! You have to remove it from eBay and do a fresh listing even if now that is a hot item because it has become rare! What the...?????
I thought last year was bad, this year makes the pre-split months look great. What are they doing? They are offering incentive now for hot items for Christmas when Christmas is almost here. Very sad situation.
Top Rated since day 1 continuously yet not in search...sad. They want HOT they define HOT they don't know what HOT is. They need to open an eBayMart sister site for the Made in China items and the deals they are giving them, why do they give them better deals? Do they want to source items like Amazon?
One issue may be for me is 14 day return so they wait 14 days before Christmas perhaps, but no way can I run a business with a longer return window the way it is now. That means cash flow could be seriously disrupted so the money is not really ours for 14 days. Makes it hard to know how to manage inventory purchases for the holidays.
Thanks for listening,
