eBay Expects Seller to Respond to Shoppers in One Hour

eBay is setting what most sellers would consider unrealistic expectations by displaying a 1-hour response time on a seller's listings. A seller reached out to us saying:
"For years, @eBay's delivery estimates have been unreasonably early. Now, they are being unreasonable about response times. My listings say, "Responds within 1 hour". Yes, sometimes I do. But I also sleep on occasion!"
The seller included a screenshot, and upon checking the listing, we found it does display a small clock icon next to the words "Responds within 1 hour" in the Feedback section of the listing (view item page). It appears between the seller's store name and the Detailed seller ratings section.
We went to the seller's full feedback page and did not see the message displayed there.
In 2018, eBay tested a similar feature, adding "Seller responds to offers in 1 hour" to listings - but what we saw on the seller's listing today gives the impression they would respond to any inquiry within an hour.
This appears to be new - please let us know if you've seen this before and if you're seeing it now. And let us know what you think. |
