eBay asked sellers for feedback on the changes announced in its Fall Seller Update. It invited sellers to take the 2-question survey on Thursday.

eBay announced the fall update 2021 on Wednesday, September 8th, categorizing the changes into three main areas: Listing & Promotion; Running Your Business; and User Agreement Update.

In a post on the eBay boards on September 16, eBay for Business said it wanted to know what sellers thought. "Your answers to this 2-question survey could influence future posts, events, videos, and more."

It linked to the survey landing page on the Jebbit.com website where it invited sellers to: "Share your thoughts - You've read the Fall Seller Update. Now tell eBay for Business what changes you're looking forward to and what you have questions about."

The first survey question asked sellers to select one change the most looked forward to, offering nine options from which to choose. The second survey question was open-ended:

1) What part of Fall Seller Update are you most looking forward to?
(Pick one)

- New ways to attract buyers with eBay Stores;
- New research and performance tools in Seller Hub;
- New multi-user account access permissions and protection;
- Category changes to help buyers find your items;
- Send coded coupons to buyer groups;
- Promoted Listings expansion and rebrand;
- New item specifics updates and requirements;
- User Agreement Update- New cancellation policy;
- User Agreement Update- Required seller information when eBay manages payments.

2) Are there any parts of Fall Seller Update you're not looking forward to or don't understand? Please share why.

On the final page, eBay thanked sellers and said, "Your feedback gives eBay for Business the perspective to help educate and motivate other eBay sellers."

Will you be taking the survey to let eBay know what you think of the Fall Seller Update?

You spoke, we listened. While all the survey answers which don't match what eBay wants to hear will be deleted.

Has an eBay survey EVER changed anything?  And wouldn't you think that if a company really wanted sellers' opinions, that they would send out the survey BEFORE they made the changes?

It's done already folks. Don't waste your time.  As with other surveys the questions are likely worded so that eBay gets the answers that they want anyway.

It’s not a survey, so much as a safety valve.

Toss yet another log on the fire and some of the frogs are bound to notice increasing discomfort, had they somehow not yet through previous stokings, surreptitious or otherwise.

Their steamy noise, excess pressure in the eBay boiler, destined for shunting to space, to dilute and dissipate into the ether, unworthy of further concern.

Funny thing about updates - “New & Improved” is a tacit admission that what was previously trumpeted wasn’t exactly the be all and end all (!!) it was claimed to be.  And eBay does that a LOT…

Ebay asks us what about the most recent Seller Update we have problems with, when in fact this was overall the least offensive Update in years as it changes almost nothing except once again make a ton more work for sellers that are in the categories where they are making their huge unnecessary changes to the category numbers and Item specifics.  Of course it also comes just as the holiday rush period comes so once again takes Sellers time away from sourcing and trying to sell  product on their overall useless site.

This is nothing more than another way to find out what tweaked the sellers tempers so that they can focus on those same things even more in their next update.  Ebay has never listened to anything that sellers have said since Donohoe deemed us nothing but noise, so what should make us suddenly believe that their MO has changed suddenly?

If Iannone had started this curse of action when he first took over it might have gotten some support from sellers thinking that maybe he would be a breathe of fresh air.  But he has shown in the year and a half that he has been the CEO that he is really no different that Wenig or Donohoe, just not as openly blatant about it.  Nothing is going to be listened to other than the tiny little footsteps of both buyers and sellers continuing to leave Ebay for other sites where they actually appreciate and listen to their customers, which does include Sellers Ebay!!!

1.)  I'm looking forward to Ebay actually having commercials on TV,...because 90% of people think Ebay is either "extinct" or just filled with "scam artists".

2.)  I'm looking forward to Ebay bringing back the 'Adult Category' to prove that they are no longer taking orders from the Oligarchy Lizard People.

3.)  I don't like how Ebay lets the customers win 100% of the cases, -even when they KNOW that the customer is scamming us.  Ebay is a nonstop headache of problems.  They need to listen to the sellers more, -NOT their dingbat corporate overlords.

While I have a lot to say, I will not answer the survey. I am afraid of anything negative that I say may hurt my sales. Why does ebay constantly do surveys when they already know the answer. Is the board forcing them to do so? Will they somehow hide the truth?

It is very obvious that they release this and all the category changes in the 4th quarter for the following reasons - they know that the category changes will cause as much havoc as others, they know that it will cause some sellers to lose sales. These sellers will worry that sales are slow during what is supposed to be the best selling time. Therefore the sellers will either increase their promoted listings or try the new ''rob sellers'' pay per click. Ebay gets more money and they do not care if the sellers suffer. Category changes should be released at the slowest time of the year - between June and August.

I constantly get the emails for the survey. I never answer them. I used to. I just dont see that it does any good. Ebay basically runs the same way it has for the past 12-15 years. Make changes, dont test them and just roll them out in Alpha, deal with collateral damage later...if we can...if not just leave it. Sums up why the site is dysfunctional. Patch on top of patch on top of patch. GET A REAL CTO ,new team, and entire tech staff!!! One that does not cut corners.

Why are my sales down right now about 40%? Because of changes they made to the item specifics.....Works real well, really makes the buyers search for their items easier.
