eBay Should Tell Sellers How to Get Priority Status

Whatever happened to that 2.5% social sharing fee discount plan they mentioned at eBay Open Online in August? Seems like it's been sent down the memory hole. 🤨

It's crazy that eBay teases that reduced 2.5% ePN social sharing fee VAR mentions at eBay Open then just ghosts sellers. I guess eBay hopes everyone will simply forget these things?

As for ''Priority Listings'' (yeah, no one internally is gong to confuse ePNs PL abbreviation use with ''Promoted Listings''), it looks like it may be a ''Don't call us, we'll call you'' scenario based on eBay docs published last month:

''Disclaimer: This Priority Listing initiative is limited to eligible partners that have been notified by EPN. Some of this content may not apply to you.
By default, Priority Listing transactions earn 1.5 times the standard commission for that transaction.

''For example, if a transaction would have normally earned $10 in commission, it will earn $15 if it's a Priority Listing item.
Please note: The 1.5 multiplier is subject to change at the sole discretion of EPN. Please reference the Network Agreement for additional details.''

As for Filowitz, it appears eBay is still working on finalizing his replacement.

“Priority’ status has a fatal flaw. As true for eBay, as it is for any service provider who might offer such a ‘promotion’.  

What if ‘everybody’ qualifies?  Who gets front row then?  

Ergo, everybody can’t, and never will.  Even if they might.  So, best not to reveal too much about ‘how’.

What’s really a priority, is critical thinking when it comes to any advertising intended to influence, especially when such is ‘internal’.  

eBay’s ‘favor’ is always for sale of course.  But as any similarly arrogant ‘vendor’ might condescendingly maintain:  If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

After all these years eBay still hasn't figured out that if all sellers make money then eBay makes money.  And if all sellers make lots of money they might just spent some of that money buying on eBay (like we used to).

Ebay management will never change. It is basically U.S. corporate culture...witch is find and angle, scam, or manipulation. There is no honesty any more. AND, unfortunately, if you (as a seller) dont find an angle, scam or manipulation you come out last.

Same with our govt. Thats why this country is such a mess.

To be honest - I’m confused about all this.

How many sellers need “influencers”?

If you sell stamps,coins, auto parts, vintage toys, close outs or anything from any of the other hundreds of categories- what social media/influencers/CPC do you need?

Should some one post their one old common toy box cars (that’s worth$10 on a good day) on FB and get a cut of some revenue??

Just let people sell - for gods sake- it’s really not all that hard.

@geetar - yes - the San Jose Mafia. All these years I’ve been saying so, yet they have never sued me for slander … I guess they agree.

“How to get priority status”? Just make your check out to “The Old Griffter Retirement Fund “ and poof - instant priority

eBay is %101 pay for play, your ratings don’t matter, your business rules don’t matter, the age of your account doesn’t matter, who you are or who you know doesn’t matter - as long as you line ebays pockets- you will get ahead on eBay - at the expense of everyone else.

“Back in the day”, the harder you worked, the better quality your listing was, the better your reputation was - the better you did.

Now, because the roughly $5billion sitting offshore ISNT enough, eBay has just become a sleazy scam place.

CPC them enough (regardless of who you are and what you do (you pay eBay enough cash to exclude other sellers)(aka the refurbished section on eBay)) and you succeed- and the rest of us - can all drop dead.

What a company huh?!
