eBay Continues Repairs to Clothing Category Attributes

Good maybe they can fix ebay motors next as our item specifics for parts we sell are now disappearing from there as well.

Mark4, they have no idea what they are doing, their AI auto fill in data is flawed, sometimes it works, other times it throws up a lot of errors and you have to delete the auto fill data.

They have many unnecessary fields that are not even relevant for many product categories and these fields change depending on what you are listing, we ignore every one of them and have quit using many of them because some of the fields like 'finish' are throwing up errors when using bulk relist, so we simply do not use the field any longer.

it's pretty mind boggling that they continually screw up xmas sales for sellers each year - very year - and since they ALWAYS screw up a format change you think someone over there would get a clue and do this shite in the summer. Never fails.

No company in the history of the Internet has made 1/4 of the changes in their entire tenure since opening that ebay has made in a single year. And even then, those companies changes actually work and don't paralyze millions of people from doing business.

So now ebay is taking a 43 day hiatus from yet more changes, more glitches, more breaks, more crap, more GREAT NEWS! More lost sales to to come in 2020. STAY TUNED! WE HAVE YOUR BACK! Woop Woop.

I'd put my money on a strung out junkie staying clean before ebay can go a full month and a half with out making a change. It truly is a sickness.

Irrelevant item specifics values
Here's a clue, I sell a LOT of sneakers and a few relevant specifics I'd like to see put BACK  (material) is MESH and LEATHER!  It's a waste of my time to have to keep typing those in when I could click on them in the past. While we're at it why in the hell do I have to keep typing in UPC= Does Not Apply? Where did that go?

The changes were made by idiots and were irrelevant.  I have changed hundreds of my items.  They have done nothing and are liars.  I believe some of the  listings I went through and corrected were then changed by eBay leaving no size.  I am down 32% from last month.  Idiots!

Someone reported on the boards that they received the $15 off coupon - I believe the start date was 11/12 - but they never received it until the 18th and they'd done much of their shopping on other sites already.

Sales are down 75% for many people despite the fixes - there are still search problems and many of my items only have 1 bot view instead of the 3 or 4 we usually see. People are closing their stores and moving on. Ebay is now a shell of it's former self. Yes people have been talking about it's demise for years but I really think this time the writing is on the wall.

Everyone wonders why eBay chooses to make changes in the months before the Holiday selling season.

The answer is simple.....

eBay knows that their third rate programmers, hired to save money, will almost certainly screw up their tasks and the site.  These screw ups will inevitably have a negative impact on sales. So.... the only way they can implement their ill advised changes to the system is to implement those changes at the beginning of the busiest quarter so that when sales take a hit they are less noticeable to Wall Street.

The fact that the changes as well as the third rate programming has a negative impact on sales and thus hurts sellers is irrelevant to eBay executives.  eBay executives are only interested in bamboozling Wall Street that everything is fine and that sales issues are due to outside forces beyond eBay's control when in fact the reverse is true.

I read this as . . . "We fixed it  . . . but wait there's more . . . we only fixed 1 aspect of it.   The other 66% of the glitch is still there and you are going to want to go ahead fix that stuff on your own."

Reminds me of the photo glitch.  They lost the photos and said not to worry, nothing for sellers to do as they will recover them.   They kept saying that and then they went silent for 3 - 4 weeks.  Then they told sellers the images were lost permanently and we need to take pictures.  

The problem is again what eBay is not telling us.    More importantly what they are not communicating with the buyers on the site.    When they changed these item specifics and category names not only were new searches not populating the change - your buyers saved searches were DEAD too.   Why on earth would Ebay not reach out to buyers and let them know that they need to update their saved searches.  Makes no sense.

ebayisscrewed+Ric, eBay has had problems serving web pages for years, no matter the browser, they have log in problems, buyers are reporting it takes 5 minutes to log in to get by CAPTCHAS added to stop bots from hijacking accounts, buyers are abandoning shopping carts due to the new eBay Payments system.

Sellers have reported since going on eBay Payments that business is down 75% and they are closing stores due to that mess.

Saved searches were ruined long ago when they changed MyeBay over to their NEW BUYER AND SELLER OVERVIEW PAGES IN MyeBay, they changed the saved search page over a year ago and added tabs so users could customize, Devin has ruined EVERY ASPECT of eBay. All of his changes of the MyeBay interface into SELLER HUB type ideas have destroyed MyeBay also.

The only hope eBay has is to roll the software back and restore the entire site from 6 years ago on the desktop side, but they can't do that because they have merged mobile technology with the desktop side, when they should have had separate interfaces for both.

What a freaking mess Ebay has made of their Item Specifics which remain in disarray well beyond clothing. I went to list a tablecloth yesterday and they wanted to know if it was men's, women's or baby's! I can predict most informed Ebay sellers will agree this ItemSpecificManglePalozza has HURT their sales. Yet, we pay store fees, item listing fees, shipping fees, fees on taxes and promoted listing fees while buyers still occasionally scam their way to free returns and 'rentals'. How about Ebay offer some form of compensation as this is their messsssssssss.

eBay never needed Structured Data or item specifics to rank in search engines, they ranked fine for the first decade based on titles and product descriptions, search engines can pick up keywords.

They made the false claim that is was to rank in search, this was done to copy Amazon with the thinking being, if we copy the Amazon interface our market capitalization will grow as large as Amazon's one day, or at least half of what Amazon is if we clone them.

Delusional on Schenkel's and Devin Wenig's part is all this is, so is their pitching of Advertising and Payments to Wall Street, payments is ruining eBay at this very moment and Advertising of sponsored listings in search has turned off buyers.

Last night I was entering some clothing. There is a place that you click for update some of the fields. I did, but when you scroll down, the fields are empty. Next time around, I scrolled down the fields and they are filled, but there are updates. So I click on the updates and it removes the already filled fields.  What a bunch of carp!

I received another coupon promotion today. 10% off using the app, 5% using the computer. Good for two days. The promo says no minimum, but they just mean in dollar value of the purchase. You are still limited to a max of $500 rewards. The sad thing is really, even in the jewelry category, people are selling off things off at pretty much gold cost.

They are also back to screwing with some of their top sellers listings. Today I was looking at a guys newest listings. Said there was 74. Go to the page and I'm shown 13, total. Go to his store, he has 764 items. I let these guys know what's happening, but they obviously can't do anything about it either.

Totally correct. Simple stupid. Type in what you're looking for and the platform should give it back. Giving back these stupid results, which are completely NOT what the buyers is looking for, just adds to the frustration and they go somewhere else.
Why wouldn't they. It has become an absolute circus trying to find what you want. If I didn't sell on eBay, you can bet I also wouldn't buy on it. Not now.
eBay Board Members; do the sensible thing. Sell eBay and keep what is making a profit. This is just taking you down faster and further than you can imagine. You will never have the ability, knowledge, intellect or more to bring it back. NEVER.

Business is so slow on eBay, you can have 100 grand of inventory and you still can't make enough to justify the work, so you quit listing new product, the problem is the unsold inventory is being fee churned by eBay daily as it just sits on a dead marketplace. So our activity on eBay is ending listings more than listing new items so Devin and Temkin's automated fee churning script does not burn us and put us out of business.

Very sad state of affairs when you have worked for a decade to build something on eBay to see it all destroyed by inept executives. The next thing we will see from Schenkel will be vast employee layoffs, you can bet on it, but you will never hear a word from him to sellers.
