eBay acknowledged it had a couple of technical issues today - see this Newsflash article
- but sellers have been reporting other issues since last week. Let us know if you're experiencing any issues.
There were a few problems reported with Markdown Manager. On October 7, a seller emailed that there were delays in sales starting ("created a sale today and it is now going on 7.5 hours and it is still showing pending"). Another seller reported via Ecommerce EKG on October 9
that a 35% off sale was still running 5 hours after they had ended it. And on October 15 in the comments of this Ecommerce EKG report
, it appears the problems continue - "Can't add items and sales seem to be taking longer than usual to take effect."
Sellers reported via email and Ecommerce EKG
that they received messages from eBay about old invoices from June, July, and August - for example, "Your July 15, 2019 invoice is ready for download." Not surprisingly some sellers were concerned they might be double billed.
Postage and Payments Issues
A seller reported problems printing postage yesterday and said a buyer reported eBay would not combine payments for a purchase today. The post
on the eBay boards elicited discussion about issues others were having.
In addition, eBay reported the following issues today, which it classified as resolved at 8:47 pm ET:
eBay said there were "problems when revising or creating listings within Clothing, Shoes and Accessories categories." On this thread
, some sellers discussed the problems they were encountering, with one sharing a screenshot showing the message ("It looks like there's a problem with this listing. Item specifics - The item specific Size is missing,...")
"We've received reports of technical issues in Seller Hub, including sales graphs not being up to date," eBay wrote. And on this Ecommerce EKG report
, a seller wrote, "Today and the previous 3 days are missing from the sales graph."
Technical issues happen. Once sellers know of a particular problem, it can save them time and aggravation, so kudos to eBay for using the message board to alert sellers to today's issues. One seller wrote today
after discovering a thread about the issues, "Good to know that it is not just me - I've been screwing with a listing for what feels like forever with the same error message. I'll put it aside for now and try again tomorrow with it."
eBay posted that the problems with Item Specifics and Seller Hub were resolved at 8:47 pm ET. Let us know which if any problems you're currently experiencing and if/how they are impacting you.
Update 10/16/2019: Tuesday evening's note that the problems were resolved disappeared from the Announcement Board post on Wednesday, and sellers continued to report major problems creating and revising listings due to problems with Item Specifics.
The issues appear to be quite serious - eBay executive Harry Temkin had to cancel an Facebook Live appearance on Wednesday afternoon because he was "working with teams on resolving the technical issues surrounding Item Specifics."
We're not sure if the issue with Item Specifics is also impacting buyers who try to narrow down searches using filters.
