eBay May Launch an Amazon-Style Fulfillment Service

UPC on all items lets eBay identify high velocity items. Next eBay becomes the seller with fulfillment by a 3rd party or maybe even amazon. We should not be fooled to where eBay is heading

You send us your inventory that you paid for in full, we go through it as time goes on and determine if it is defective, you pay us back for all returned merchandise that we have the right to dispose of, you pay us to store your inventory per month, and if it does not sell as fast as it should we will dispose of the merchandise after you pay your storage bills.

Based on eBay's track record of efficiency and conscientious attention to detail in everything else they cop...er...innovate, this has fustercluck written all over it.

And based on how well they've 'listened' to seller input to date, it probably wouldn't be wise either to count on them 'exercising' any suggested 'preference' seriously - especially if that includes a preference that no such process exist on eBay.

The erasure of all third party identity as independent entities USING eBay as the 'service' they claim to be is almost complete.  Look for a follow up 'announcement' soon from Son of Disruptor stating plans to 'reconnect' - with their vendors.  

Not me, you're thinking?  Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.  Important advice to consider when one's vehicle keeps changing lanes constantly.

I sell collectible items, many/most of which require special handling, storage, and packaging.  Do I trust eBay to take the same care I do (or even a small fraction of the care I do)?  Absolutely NOT!

If you have something positive to say about sending your items to ebay, then say it. Having people silenced because you don't agree is not the right thing to do. Voice your opinion about how great you think sending your items to ebay will be.

Back to the issue,
I don't send my items to Amazon anymore because they don't care about what they are doing and they are the supposed experts. I certainly would not send it to ebay.  Between the storage fees and the fulfillment fees and the fees to ship it to Amazon (assuming the same for ebay), not to mention the forced refund and processing fee can put you in the negative on the whole deal.  Then you don't know if they will even send you back the right item or give you back your money when they refund the buyer before they actually returned it. Oh and then the fee to get your stuff back before they decide to just throw it away. No thanks.

Barbbie, they say they are going to throw your inventory away, they don't throw it away, they auction if off to other sellers and your inventory ends up back on eBay, Amazon and other marketplaces.
