eBay Kicks Off Ad Campaign in the UK
By: Ina Steiner
eBay launched its Fill Your Cart with Color campaign in the United States in June, and now it is kicking off the campaign in the UK, according to Campaign Live
When it launched in the US, eBay explained
that Phase 1 of the campaign set the tone, establishing eBay as *the* place to find unique items, while Phase 2 of the campaign was all about getting buyers to take action. "The bold, colorful creative draws you into an immersive shopping experience, revealing items you didn't even know you wanted."
According to Campaign Live, the campaign is based on the premise that possessions are a way of expressing personality - and it cites data provided by eBay: "In the UK, a survey of 1,500 shoppers by eBay found that two in five Brits express themselves through the items they buy."
After the UK, the campaign will roll out in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Australia.
Has the campaign worked in the US? The article doesn't raise the issue. The fact eBay is rolling out the campaign internationally would lead one to believe it's effective. Have you seen the ads? What do you think of the premise of the campaign and its effectiveness?
