eBay Checkout Experiences Brief Disruption Today

eBay reported service disruptions related to Checkout and Buy it Now today (Nov. 1) at 10:17 am PDT. The reports disappeared about 25 minutes later, and we saw no reports of problems on Down Detector or on the eBay Tech Issues board.

Here are the two messages:

Today at 10:17AM PDT We are aware of a service disruption related to Buy it Now, and are looking into the situation. This page will be updated as we know more.

While eBay posted a notice about the problem at 10:17 (or 1:17 pm Eastern), it didn't say when the problem first began. Interestingly eBay leaves no trace of technical problems once it deems them resolved - the links to today's two problems now resolve back to the main Systems Status page.

We're documenting the issue here - let us know if you see any further issues.

In the past 60 days, I've encountered at least one MAJOR glitch on ebay every day -- every day!!! Many of them inhibit productivity and profitability over a span of several days.

When will these cretins learn that their "tech" ineptitude and incompetency adversely affects their bottom line?

Pages won't load, photos can't be uploaded, new listings nearly impossible to create, questions can't be answered, no sales notification emails, mobile app undependable, broken search, worthless "improvements," and so on.

I've been on ebafia over three decades and NEVER seen the platform as difficult to use for both sellers and buyers than it is now.

And when do they choose to make the platform as dysfunctional and non functional as the possibly can? The holiday buying season, of course.

The one thing that Wenig is good at is making ebafia Bain ready.

I couldn't check out after MANY attempts on my desktop last night about 10 or 11 pm. Paypal page would NOT load for me to put my email and password. I finally went to my mobile phone and completed my paypal transaction. Annoying as heck.

Ming and I have sold throughout 3 decades ..........the 1990s, the 2000s, and the 2010s, although in my case, only 20 years, 10 months and 3 days (so far).

Agree with Ming.
As a seller, ebay died in 2008.
As a buyer, ebay is the absolute last resort. Too frustrating to navigate or search, every page needing to be refreshed before it will open.
Every visit, more changes for changes sake, today being the unfortunate day to try to buy.

They screw up every single year at christmas - they screw the sellers every single year at christmas - eBay is the original grinch. When is the big W going? every single year it just gets worse and worse. Problem is where do sellers go that is any better? Online selling is supposed to be the future but from where I am sitting it just keeps getting worse. Thank god I am still in a brick and mortar and can supplement my income. Time has surely passed where I consider eBay my source of income. And the lowball scammers omg with the offers - my blocked bidder list grows daily. Hope their gonna up it to 10,000 soon. I have no patience for the thieves.

Suggestion, instead of spending monies on AI and other futurist database adventures. How about spending time and effort on a database that simply works first time every time. I went on to order something during this time, ended up buying on the river instead. If it's not EBay's database, it's Paypal's. EVERY Christmas from July to end of November these guys tinker with the database, and every year it's the same.

How on earth do they keep posting sales growth and revenue growth with such a broken down jalopy of a system??

Once again, I really think every Exec at Ebay should be forced to sell and buy on all of the other platforms, they might begin to understand why we are all pushing away as quick as we can.

Guitar1 says: "Suggestion, instead of spending monies on AI and other futurist database adventures."

That's only to WOW! Wall Street.  They would not begin to know how to utilize AI.  They can't even get basic programming down.

The idea of every "Exec at Ebay should be forced to sell" has been passed around many times and some of them actually do sell, but not full-time. They don't support their family off eBay sales. Execs should be forced to carry at a minimum 500 items at all times. So not only do they have to constantly update listings with every new policy change, they might start getting the fact that their decisions are horrible for sellers in general.

If you really want the execs who do sell to understand your frustration, start buying from them, and create bogus returns. Use the item, send it back after 30 or 45 days whatever its is... demand a FULL refund, and leave them a Neg. Most of them have links to there ebay page right on their FB, twitter, or IG.

"eBay leaves no trace of technical problems" ... crooks generally try to hide eveidence of the crime.

If Wall Street knew how bad eBays "system" REALLY was, the stock would tank.

For those that like math

Amazon is trading at $1080 with a P/E of 277

eBay is trading at $37 with a P/E of 5.55

If we gave Amazon a P/E of 5.55 what would Amazons stock price be?

Oooh.  Oooh!  I know, I know!

The answer is: Unlike eBay's, still rising consistently.

Hope that gets an 'A'.  Actually, almost everybody gets an 'A' these days.  Hence the consistent increases.

And now...back to the topic!

I think every site on the internet at some point in time will experience a glitch, it's to be expected, but the ebay site is a complete mess, with all their money and decades of being online, this kind of stuff is pure amateur hour.
