New Amazon Vehicles Site vs eBay Motors

Amazon also went after Etsy with handmade category; right?  How's that working out?
A lot of cars are bought through Craigslist so AMZ could impact that site too.  However, AMZ has a high return rate in other categories, (just visit the forums to see how much headache returns causes sellers)  and I can see where the vehicle category would be another high return.
I honestly don't know how they would sell cars on AMZ but I can see auto parts.  But it seems that parts companies are already on amazon, right?
EB needs to start acquiring other sites to compete against AMZ.  Something that will attract more buyers.  They bought StubHub, but Half.com is sitting dormant and that would be a good site to convert to  streaming music and ebooks. EB also has ebayclassifieds, and that site is sitting dormant.  Two good sites that need some action and upgrade.

Just to add something.  A while ago, EB seller support wrote me that Electronics and clothing were the highest returned items.  I stopped selling electronics (computer parts).  Still selling clothing, but have a practically 0 rate because I feature a video of the item; and I give a thorough description of measurements.

I can see that automotive parts (and cars) would be a high return item.

Cars are one of those things that i just wouldn't buy online.  I want to see it and be able to have it checked out before I plunk down a pile of cash.

This is why tool guy doesn't sell on Amazon -- they don't offer his category. In another posting he said he has a low selling fee because he sells on Ebay Motors. Evidently Amazon doesn't offer him a site to sell his aircraft parts.

Anyone who uses feeBay Motors in an attempt to sell an entire vehicle is an idiot, period. You pay a huge up-front listing fee, and no 'purchase' is binding on the bidder.

I don't sell on Amazon because I don't think they can match eBay's low fee's a QUALITY service!

Besides, it's hard to play on both fields at once. Been a hard core ebayer for 18 years. . .

Not even close to jumping ship and sailing down the river when I have the open seas of ebay at hand!

Again (skipping cars for a moment) ... the traffic on Amazon is 10x what it is on eBay in EVERY single category.

If you could figure out how to get your items listed on Amazon, you would see that for yourself.

I have identical items on both places and Amazons sales are MUCH better (and alot of times the prices on Amazon are HIGHER then on eBay).

ANYONE attaching themselves to eBay like the way TOOL does is uninformed at best, moronic at worst as the facts speak for themselves.

Electronics & clothes have high returns on eBay because that is the way eBay brass in San Jose want it.

Theres no reason that with clear model numbers, upc codes and pictures that returns of that magnitude should exist unless they are stoked by eBay and its magical 30 day rental Money Back Policy.

Ive been offered clothing MANY times but have always stayed away ..... too many crazies on eBay.

I can show you a few dozen sellers that sell US Government surplus on eBay at auction week in and week out.

Some of them sell $100,000 a week!

Most sell $10,000 a week.

I'm a small fish and I'm happy to do $1000 a week. . .

Amazon isn't the place for American made surplus items, eBay is!

Anything over 10 years old , is not really covered by return policy. Ebay Motors is a different animal , with different rules than ebay. I have sold vehicles on ebay motors with zero issues. Local pickup , as is sale. Paypal is the only open issue. I can request partial payment , & the rest in cash upon pickup. More freedom away from the ebay & paypal bull.
It helps I sell good vehicles.6 per year. Theres a flat rate at end of sale , FVF.
