Reports are coming in today from sellers who say eBay has changed some settings on their listings without notice or permission. "I can't believe eBay has converted all of my Auctions to their Global Shipping Program - again!!!" wrote one EcommerceBytes reader.
Another wrote, "I use the traditional eBay listing page. They have made their Global Shipping default. It is selected when you use international shipping." The reader explained that it wasn't easily seen, but that it could be deselected by the seller assuming they notice it.
Two sellers also discussed the issue in a thread on the eBay discussion boards on Sunday. "Noticed this AM that on "Sell Similar" form, Global Shipping is checked off - i.e. you have to "uncheck" it to opt out.-very sneaky," a seller wrote. "I don't know how long this has been the case, but it's very easy to miss-especially when you're not expecting it." Another seller said they observed the same thing.
One of the readers who contacted us on Sunday wrote back and said, "They are also making free shipping default. This is showing up in my Basic eBay Store account."
Sellers are advised to check their listings and be careful when listing and relisting. Let us know if you've experienced this problem today. |
