Some were suspended because of bad luck by a computer algorithm that crunched some numbers and chopped some heads.
It's nice to welcome them back, but since eBay isn't all that concerned with justice, let me say that from the big picture, I see ebay needs more buyers, not more merchandise.
eBay should also be concverned with their margins, not with volume. Take for example something like a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt. they are both common and popular. Let's say (because this is hypothetical and I don't have any facts) that they retail at Macy's for $50, are marked down periodically there to $25 and can be found on Amazon for $20 with some private sellers selling there for as low as $15.
On eBay there are thousands of them for sale too, some price too high, some priced at $15 to compete with Amazon and then guess what?
Ebay actually encourages sellers to auction off their Polos starting at $1 and so people empty their closets and sell them for whatever they can get. Some sell for $1 and some sell for $5. Smoe have stains, some have holes, and some are without defect.
The effect of this is that the junk that get's sold generally pisses off the buyer who swears off eBay for future consideration. Many other people get a great bargain, at a price of 1/3 or less what they would have had to pay anywhere else.
Many sellers who deal in great items at prices slightly less than Amazon or anywhere else miss out on every sale done at giveaway prices by newbie eBay sellers, encouraged by eBay, that the auction is the true measure of the just market price.
In the end, the newbie eBay seller gives up after a while because they didn't make any money, while eBay makes little to nothing on the giveaway priced sale, and the professional eBay seller scratches his head, wondering why sales keep declining from one year to the next.

With eBay, you ALWAYS need to read the tea leaves and understand WHY and what they are REALLY up to.

Sure alot of those sellers are simply victims of eBay and its 4th grade programming. Simple, easy issues, issues that in other places would NOT have resulted in being "kicked" or suspended - are ones that on eBay get your account suspended or closed.

Thats simply cause eBay only cares about itself and no one else. Theres no mercy, theres no caring, theres nothing except eBays bottom line, and what some crackpot buyer said about that seller.

If eBay WAS the compassionate corporation they make themselves out to be, they wouldnt (as an example) let buyers steal from sellers aka "faulty returns". They would also have instructed Payapl to cease its 180 policy SNAD SPECIFICALLY FOR EBAY SALES.

But the eBay WE all know are the robber barons of the twenty first century. Its not rob from the rich and give to the poor, its rob from your selling partner and give to yourself and the buyer.

Regardless of how and why these specific sellers were kicked - the simple, truthfull answer is desperation.

Sales and growth are SO bad/stalled that there isnt much they can do about it (short of handing out cash to sellers - something they would NEVER do).

So, what do you do when you have no more "kooky lame brain" ideas  to increase sales? You go back to the sellers you kicked (for no reason) and invite them back!

If you cant attract NEW sellers (sellers are leaving in DROVES)(just read eBays forums) ... where will you get the new blood aka victims for eBays buyers to abuse?

Alot of sellers left, and those that remain have mostly gone to NO RETURNS and/or no longer put up expensive items ......

Selling on eBay is like living in that little Romanian village right under Castle Dracula. Every once and awhile, the vampires swoop down from the castle and bite/steal away a victim. THAT is what happens on eBay. Every once and awhile, the vampires (eBay and its buyers) need fresh blood - and a seller or sellers are chosen to feed the hungry undead.

While these reinstated sellers are "lucky" to be let back, the reinstatement may come back to bite them ..... literally.

I was on ebay and was suspended five years ago pending my providing where I was purchasing my goods.  I had 30 days to provide where I was buying goods.  Bear in mind I never had an issue with regard to good quality and I was was a top seller.  In fact, after my removal I received a certificate showing my being a power seller or whatever.  I would not sell again under the same information as I do not want Ebay flagging it or watching it closer.  

Based on information posted from many previous sellers it does no good to provide information other than tracking info and/or feedback and past history.  I think it was a publicly traded company as many manufacturers and/or companies do not like their items being sold by third parties.  

Federal protects sellers to allow them to resell items that bought legitimately.

In addition Ebay has removed accounts I tried to add just for the purpose of buying.

My advice is only try to sell again with same information once there is a track record of previous sellers being allowed back and/or if they can't get another account opened up.

Too funny. Could there possibly be that many suspended accounts, that their reinstatement, if anyone would accept such reinstatement, could possibly make any difference to the damage that this most unscrupulous commercial entity has brought on itself? Notwithstanding eBay's obvious desperation, methinks these people are utterly delusional ...

eBay is essentially saying " We have lowered our standards and we are inviting you back."

If they really wanted sellers they intentionally ran off to come back they should be saying " We made mistakes in our past and we would welcome you back."

As usual. eBay does not even come close to hitting the proper tone.

It seems to me that there would be a high degree of resentment and ill will toward eBay on the part of these sellers, making it unlikely they would be willing to return.

This tells me eBay is having money trouble.  It's always about the $$ with eBay.  If they are willing to let Sellers they previously deemed unworthy back into the fold, they've lowered their standards in order to make a buck.  They've determined the cost of doing business must still outweigh the negatives and they'll still find a way to screw the seller when things go awry.  

I finally started using PayPal Standard payments through my small website set up through my WordPress site and interestingly I'm making sales I thought I'd never make!  So I recommend small sellers take the leap and go set up your own site and take the plunge!  eBay is not the only game in town!  Just be sure to use tags and alternative descriptions and basic SEO, and you'll do pretty well with Google!

So eBay raises the anchor store fee to a crazy rate and sellers downgrade or leave, and then eBay wonders why their numbers are sinking. To make up for their failed money grab, they turn to their former patsies. I doubt any former sellers who have been burned by eBay will return especially if they were able to recover and move on from eBay's abuse.

This is crazy!
Just what good honest sellers need. More bad sellers fighting them for the few people still buying on ebay.
I saw one seller that had almost 1/2 her feedback in the month negatives. And yet, ebay seems fine with her selling.
I knew ebay was hurting. But this is the lowest of the low.

never say never... my buying ID just got an email offering me $10 in ebay credit to start selling.

Do you think maybe ebay finally realized that every seller they kicked off for some trumped up reason,took at least one buying account and sometimes more, off the site? hence the sinking sales lines?

A search engine that does not steer buyers to eBay's enterprise darlin's and the Chinese (one that actually shows the buyer what the buyer wants to see) and a level playing feel is the ONLY thing that will bring sellers back.

They really must be desperate for fees.

Yesterday I sold 3 items for a total of $244, that works for me.

They are probably running out of US sellers.

China fakers have ruined my ebay business be selling illegal fakes with illegal maker's marks/trademarks.

Been reporting them for five years and ebay has done nothing.

They suspended me once for what they thought was a duplicate listing that was not.

Since I no longer sell on ebay, its now comical to watch what stupid things they will do next.
