eBay search is malfunctioning with reports coming in on Thursday to the eBay boards and to Ecommerce EKG. The eBay Technical Issues board has many complaints, and some believe the site may have been hacked.
The problems seem to have started sometime after 6:30 pm Eastern. Some other parts of the eBay site are also malfunctioning, users said.
Down Detector also has reports of problems with a huge spike this evening.
Sometimes a search redirects to the eBay home page, other times it goes to an error page that says, "Sorry, We could not find "www.latest.ebay.com". Did you mean www.ebay.com?"
As per usual, there is no announcement on the eBay Systems Announcement Board set up to report technical issues. We have a question in to eBay PR and will provide updates as we learn more.
Update: eBay is now aware of the problem, it tweeted minutes ago: "Current technical issues are affecting some users’ ability to sign in and transact on the site. Working to get this resolved asap."
Update: eBay spokesperson Ryan Moore responded to our inquiry: "Message we're putting up on social now: We are aware some users are currently having problems signing in and transacting on the site. Our teams are working urgently to address this technical issue, which likely stems from scheduled site maintenance that was being performed. We apologize for any inconvenience this interruption causes. We will share additional information with our community as it becomes available."
Update: At 8:52 pm Eastern eBay tweeted, "The recent network issue we experienced has been investigated and resolved. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience." |
