Flurry of Technical Issues Hits eBay Day before Thanksgiving
By: Ina Steiner
eBay shipping is down, sellers can't relist items, and some people can't even log in. Sellers are sending in a flurry of reports about eBay problems on Ecommerce EKG this morning, the day before Thanksgiving - the kickoff to the big, extended holiday-shopping weekend that includes Black Friday and extends into Cyber Monday.
If you are having any issues, visit Ecommerce EKG
and go through today's reports. Hit "thumbs down" if you are not
having problems for that particular issue, and hit "thumbs up" if you are
experiencing that issue. (You can leave a comment on each report as well.)
We also noticed reports coming into the eBay Technical Issues board
. A person reported eBay shipping went down for them 25 minutes before they posted - so about 8:12 am ET.
We have also sent an inquiry to eBay - hopefully the issues can be fixed quickly and the company will have staff working over the holiday weekend should problems continue to crop up.
Update: Down Detector
is also showing the spike in reports that is occurring this morning.
: eBay has acknowledged some of the issues on its Systems Board
Update: eBay issued the following announcement stating that the problem was fully resolved at 11:45 am ET:

Site Issue Resolved
Today, many eBay customers experienced a disruption in their ability to transact. That problem, which lasted just under three hours, has now been corrected. The majority of functionality was restored at 8:00 am PT, and the issue was fully resolved at 8:45 am PT. The disruption occurred as a result of a public internet domain change that had an unanticipated impact on processing inside the eBay platform. We regret the fact that this occurrence created a business interruption for some of our sellers and buyers. We will be providing standard protections for our sellers, and we’ll be providing further details shortly.
