eBay Acknowledges Disruptive Technical Issues Monday Morning

Yes, the "slight" technical problem that "some" users are experiencing, is that on what would argueably be the busiest posting day of the year, the sell item function is down and has been going on half a day

Yep, it's screwed all right. All the window dressing is there...but the stuff you NEED to see - your selling/sold items - isn't populated just white space.  Obvious Q is: What "Disruptive Disruption" did they pull this time?  You think anyone will be held accountable - ie. FIRED - for this?  Naw..this is eBay, where [mis-]management reigns supreme. Nothing to see here, Folks...just move along! Wait an hour, a day, or Who Knows how long, and our "crack" IT team in the Third World Heck Hole will make it all better.

Note also that when the selling function is restored, that pent up demand will result in an avalanche of items being posted, and thus ending at the same time, thereby diminishing the final realized price and further burying the items within a massive flood of postings...

Not only should housecleaning on Fleecebay begin at the top it shouldn't stop until it falls to the bad programers and useless customer service drones.

I feel pretty sure that they've hidden small sellers' items for 90% of the time until after the holidays so it's nice to know that Donahoe's Diamonds will know what it feels like to suffer financially.

So how many days are left before we can say goodbye to the man who destroyed eBay? Anyone counting?

Also I would be elated If my items were hidden only 90% of the time, instead of the small infrequent appearences they make for an hour or two every few days

10:10 AM EST - site still effectively dead. Now, there had to be some new software that was DEPLOYED to cause this and competent IT management would order an immediate roll-back.  But, this is eBay we're dealing with, not some professionally run organization.

Note to poster "Rexford" - don't hold your breath waiting for the corrupt BOD to can The Hoe. He survived the hacking cover-up and compared to that scandal this is small potatoes.

Why does everyone assume that a long term outage during the busiest period of the year,  blocking the mass of disposable sellers from listing is accidental?

Remember people they HATE us. They want us GONE. They want their mega sellers to have a clear field..

Seem to me that this technical glitch , goes right along with their goals

 Also for those of you keeping track, The long term glitch wherin tracking information which is uploaded to ebay does NOT compile correctly, with the result that the sellers on time percentage is LOWER then it should be

I've been reading about this forever... Why is it still happening ?

Ebay is tore up from the floor up . Today it has sent me to Germany and when i try to revise a future schedule listing it says there is a problem and to click here for the announcement board . . . which of course has absolutely nothing about the problem there. Thank goodness for this site to confirm the issue. At least here everyone can check with a group of people that know this notorious and dubious company better than it knows itself. Whewww. . .

Of course they have not posted the issue to the US announcement board.

It is eBay company policy to hide minor and especially major technical issues from view of Wall Street and investors unless and until their hand is forced to announce.

eBay would rather keep it's users in the dark than admit publicly to their investors that their IT infrastructure is cobbled together with spit and glue.

No doubt, eBay's Q4 numbers are going to be dismal at best.  

What better way to conceal management's obvious failures and miscalculations than to have widespread technical issues on one of the busiest days of the year which will be blamed for the horrible sales figures eBay will announce.

Selling page now loading but Sell Item / Relist still dead.

I am a US based seller. I have been unable to create listings for over 24 hours. Each time I attempt to do so Ebay rejects the listing because it has been determined to contain prohibited URL addresses. The listings do not contain any URL addresses of any sort.

Two conversations with Ebay customer service resulted in no information, no time frame in which  I could expect the site to be functional again, and a flat out refusal to even discuss the matter of compensation and/or a refund of seller subscription fees. I was instead told that since this was a technical ''glitch'' I could not expect it to be fixed quickly, maybe not for several days, and I should just continue to try to list items as eventually the problem would be resolved and I would know this had happened when my listings were no longer rejected. You can imagine how frustrating this conversation was for me.

I have been waiting since yesterday for a call back from a supervisor.

It's 4:12pm EST,and I am still unable to list or relist. I'm in Ct.

My friend from California, who is visiting, is sitting across from me listing her first items as I type. I'm teaching her how to sell while she's here.

We are both using firefox and windows 8.1. The only difference is that her computer's location is California.

Why can she sell, and not me?

No, the sad thing is that I do not actually expect that call back. Which is actually a very damning statement about Ebay as a company.

I broke down and called Ebay back myself as I still cannot list items on the site. The agent I spoke with said she had been on the phone all morning with upset sellers, that there are many different problems hitting at this time, and that she would like to set my expectations for the problems being solved in "the next few days." I should not expect to be able to list items for sale on the site for the next few days.
