eBay Spills News on Its International Shipping Program

eBay continues to refine its new International Shipping program. We reported on Wednesday's chat session devoted to EIS, as it's called. Here are some callouts worth noting:

- eBay increased the maximum value of items that could be shipped through the program from $500 to $2,500 on March 7, 2023.

- eBay will open a second hub location in Los Angeles in April, and it is evaluating other locations as it expands its operations.

- EIS does not currently support combined orders, but eBay plan to address this in the future.

- eBay is currently working to "update the removal of eIS at a listing level." (It's currently all or nothing.)

- eBay International Shipping is an "eBay owned and managed product that is run by eBay itself."

- eBay is currently updating the rates available through EIS and will publish a new rate table by the end of March 2023.

So I used GSP twice, both packages were lost.  Think I will pass on eIS and stick with shipping and being responsible for my own international business.

I have been doing it for about 2 months now and it seems to be working ok.

That being said, the moment I am charged fee's for more than what the item price and domestic shipping costs I am out of there. I will cancel every order that comes in.

Without anything to view as far as tracking, I had a few buyers complain that they dont have any tracking past the US. So I dont know whats with that. I also had a buyer from AU never receive his item. Ebay refunded him out of their pocket. So... so far so good. Like I said tho....the moment they want to charge a higher fee.....Bye...I dont need that. The 1 - 2% extra sales I could easily pick up somewhere else.

I think pretty soon you won't have a choice. Ie intl ship = join program. Fed reports about counterfeits and dangerous goods reaching multiple country borders and a particular finger pointed at small parcels that are not going through inspections. When you get multiple agencies spitting out reports in the same timeframe that is kiss of death

I have been screwed by this program twice now. Never had a problem with GSP. Both issues were caused by the buyer not sending the item back for a return. I did everything possible to get the item back: accepted the return, communicated with the buyer to find a return shipping source (never responded but for escalation to ebay), sent back a label from my preferred shipping source (which did not get used and I ate the cost), continued messaging to arrange return shipping on their end, called eBay customer service, was told to message them asking for a third party payment service details like Zelle or Paypal to send them more money to have them send me the item back, so I sent them a message offering to send them money to have them send the item back. No response but for further escalation to eBay.
In both cases the item was never sent back, and in both cases the case was decided in the buyer's favor. I appealed both cases. In the first case I was denied the appeal and took the case to BBB, which eBay refunded saying I did everything right (but also prefaced and ended the reply saying that they also did everything right). So 3 months later, I got a refund. Second case was appealed and decided in my favor. So 2 months later, I got a refund but ate the costs on the unused label.
Long story short, I miss ebay's GSP. I have removed all my current listing from their new eIS and will not use it. The buyer doesn't have to send the item back or communicate the return for a refund. You must fight tooth and nail to get the refund back on non-returned items when you have been doing everything eBay asked of you throughout the entire return process.
