Four states are experiencing shipping disruptions amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to Marni Levine, eBay Vice President of Seller Operations and Engagement.
eBay stays in very close contact with all of the carriers including USPS, FedEx, DHL, and UPS, and certain states have been impacted more than others, she said, including New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and Illinois.
eBay monitors closely on a zip-code by zip-code basis, Levine said, and it continues to extend EDDs in the areas most impacted, an apparent reference to Expected Delivery Dates that are displayed to shoppers based on buyer and seller location, seller handling time, sellers' historical performance, and other factors.
eBay continues to receive a lot of questions from sellers about shipping, she said, and eBay will host a Facebook Live chat this week to provide sellers with up-to-date information. "We want to ease those concerns" for sellers, Levine said. Members of eBay's Shipping team will participate.
eBay is also planning to host webinars to provide insight into how sellers can drive traffic to their listings, how Google Shopping works, and how eBay drives traffic and gets sellers' listings onto Google Shopping.
Also included will be information about eBay's affiliate program, called eBay Partner Network (ePN).
"We're excited to share some of the behind-the-scenes traffic-driving activities that we do, and then ways you can continue to drive traffic to your own listings," she said.
Levine shared the information during her most recent "Seller Check-in" video on Facebook on May 11th. She's been doing the videos most Mondays since March when eBay instituted a work from home policy for employees.
She mentioned Managed Payments, though she did not address the elephant in the room: the
new fee structure eBay is planning to implement on July 20th in which it will integrate payment processing fees into Final Value Fees.
She said many sellers received emails recently about Managed Payments, and those sellers will be required to join the program in July.
For those who did not get an email, Levine said it was because there were certain capabilities that eBay was still building, such as the charity program, and it doesn't want any interruption to sellers' businesses. "As the team builds out the charity function, we will come back to you and tell you when we're ready to have you go live on Managed Payments."
Most sellers in North America will be enrolled in Managed Payments "as we head through the balance of the year and certainly into 2021."
Levine reminded sellers that eBay was allowing them to list cloth masks. And she said eBay would be celebrating its 25th anniversary in September and is soliciting stories from sellers at eBay.com/yourstory.
