eBay Defers Store Fees for 30 Days for Those Who Ask
By: Ina Steiner
eBay is deferring fees for sellers who have Store subscriptions in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, it announced today (Saturday). Sellers must request the deferment, and eBay will provide more details on Wednesday.
Remember, defer means postpone - sellers will still owe the fees to eBay.
In his post on the eBay Seller Announcement Board
, Senior Vice President Jordan Sweetnam said, "We are deeply committed to supporting our sellers through this difficult time. We want to relieve some of the pressure you're facing and give you the flexibility needed to sustain your business."
eBay will send sellers an email on March 25 for details and how to request support.
eBay Interim CEO Scott Schenkel posted on the eBay corporate blog
. In it, he explained, "We understand that having a steady cash flow is vital to any business and top-of-mind for our sellers. For the vast majority of our hundreds of thousands of eBay small businesses worldwide, at this time we will be deferring payment for certain selling fees for 30 days. If you operate a small business and could use help with your eBay payments, more information on how to complete your request will be launching in each country in the coming days in our seller community center."
Let us know if this will help, and what else you think marketplaces and service providers could be doing in response to the coronavirus crisis.
