PayPal Report Shows Troubling Signs for eBay

"eBay sellers who moved to managed payments have left comments on eBay seller forums reporting a sales drop of 40 - 60% and were "clamoring to come back to PayPal."  ---- ALL of us said that too. LISTEN you your sellers - they are smarter then you think, eBay.

If Wall Street will not listen to eBay or manage to not see the real picture through the smoke and mirrors... they should be listening to PayPal on this matter.

This is not due to Amazon taking sellers away by Amazon's actions.
This is not due to last years fidget spinners.
This is not due to the economy.

This is due to eBay driving sellers away.
This is due to eBay becoming a non-issue.

Wake up Wall Street - eBay is becoming irrelevant and this is factual proof.

Sellers on eBay do not need PayPal to tell them sales on eBay suck, they have sucked for nearly a decade now.

When a lot of sellers are only doing inventory turns of 1-2% per month it does not take a genius to tell you that eBay is dead, when you have 60 grand of inventory on eBay and are lucky to do a grand a month you know the venue is nearly dead.

EBay would do better letting sellers use any payment type they want. Then fix search. Actually wotk to grow sales for sellers instead of trying to take phantom money which as we all see is running out.

Stick with me here.  PAYPAL has now released the DIRT on what HAS and HAS NOT happened at eBay.  
Here we have PAYPAL in an SEC Filing Ratting EBAY Out as to Minimal increases in EBAY revenue AND EBAY Customer Revolt vis-a-vis the Much Vaunted Managed Payment Farce.  ( 40 to 60 percent DROPS in any Good Thing is automatically a BAD THING.... squared.)  Ouch Ouch OUCH.
This is essentially the equivalent of YOUR OWN DOCTOR being interviewed on ABC about a LOCAL UPTICK in cases of a strange, NEW, often Fatal STD. Then just casually stating that YOU, yes YOU, ARE Patient Zero and the SOURCE of all these infections.

Can ANY Wall Street Analyst worth their salt actually IGNORE this Flaming Dumpster Fire any longer... AND even hope to still be employed 6 months from now?    "These are not the droids you're looking for." just will NO LONGER PLAY IN PEORIA.
Any Deep-Pocketed Market PLAYER who searches for Short Sale Plays just had EBAY pop up on their "RADAR" in a BIG BIG Way.   For these guys who have to do 2nd and 3rd levels of interpreting Awful News that too slowing LEAKS OUT from Publicly Traded Corporations this is like a Million Watt BAT-SIGNAL lighting up the Midnight sky.

I still offer PayPal and I still have that 40%-60% drop.  I don't think that I am the only one, so slow sales aren't only related to PayPal.   I am really happy that PayPal  is voicing this since no one, not eBay and not Wall Street, listens to sellers.

For eBay Board members.  When will you get a clue?

Totally agree with you! How many of have a significant Ebaydrop in sales this year? Lots! I'm down between 25% -32% all year compared to just last year. Pre-owned clothing has flown over to Poshmark. You can buy super cheap Chinese NEW trendy clothing on so many sites now.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, eBay is filing suit against their much more successful rival for poaching sellers. Sellers who are leaving anyway.

I am curious to hear how those corporate mouthpieces spin this tidbit of reality.

Guaranteed Wenig and Schenkel had no intentions of including this information in their earnings call. Too bad they postponed their release. They would have painted their rosy picture and this would have come out yesterday. Certainly it is material and those clowns would have been sharing some time with SEC investigators.

Sooo close....I half think they expected this.

I'm sure I'm not the only one but, I called PayPal and both times American Reps were not aware that PayPal was not accepted with the new payment system. Second call, I went out of my way to tell them. He said he was taking the issue straight to the top. MISTAKE #1 exclude PayPal from managed payments.
MISTAKE #2 sue Amazon. MISTAKE #3 ''nobb'' Ivory Tower. Should have listened to your CUSTOMERS!

Now they can sue Paypal for character assassination.
Only wish Paypal had pointed out that ebay's GMV includes seller shipping costs, which ebay never realizes, and is likely 5-10% of that number.

I have said more than a couple of times I think Amazon would do well to take eBay in an all stock trade. By the time the deal is finished, Amazon stock will very likely increase to the level where eBay would be free.  Same as when they purchased Whole Foods. Kick the entire two top tiers of eBay management to the curb. Ebay Marketplaces should remain a separate entity for second hand, OOAK items only. Most of the other properties that eBay owns would be better utilized by Amazon's more skilled management team and infrastructure.

That would take care of the lawsuit matter as well.
