What Do You Think of Etsy Changes to Checkout?

As long as the "Guest" can't return the item (usually broken) or ask for a refund, I'm o.k. with it.
Otherwise IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.

My question is will it enable fraud. More is known about registered users. Less with guest users.

IMHO, I think PayPal is cutting down accepting payments for pornography. Even though eBay's porn listings are strictly under the Everything Else category, they have been cleaning up their porn-act this year. When I tried to purchase ''Vintage Lingerie'' on eBay, I did see something about buying within their Adult category requiring a credit card to submit proof of age.

ETSY site is full of porn listings and makes it quite easy to purchase just about anything.

IMO, I believe the reason ETSY is pushing Guest Checkout with ETSY PAYMENTS is because their credit card server may not be concerned who buys pornography; whereas with PayPal, it would probably become more difficult to purchase pornographic items on ETSY using PayPal.

ETSY search option is full of pornography.

ETSY (Help) menu reads ''Pornography is prohibited on ETSY''.

IMO, they just prefer to call it ''Mature Audiences''.

Most retail sites have a "guest" checkout:  Target, Best Buy, even Walmart.  This is a smart move.

Having to ''sign in'' and ''create an account'' every time you want to buy something on a casual basis is a pain in the rear. Imagine having to ''sign in'' every time you went into a chain store or a supermarket! All you do there is fill your cart and then pay.

I like the idea to have options for buyers. I love the "buy it now" and directly sitting above the "ad to cart", gives first time viewrs or shoppers options. But with change comes issues, as always, nothing is always "the best way". If a buyer goes to add multiple items to the cart, thats fine if they ant ot purchase all items, I just hope the shipping calculations are correct, nothing worse than a customer that thinks their getting ripped off by high shipping cost......hopefully it all works out and customers get used to  the idea.

Another failing company since management seems to think that managing MY business is in the interest of their bottom line. After they screwed around with the search, my sales tanked. I haven't sold a thing since February, yes, February. Then when they announced that we have to comply with their payment system and will give me my money when they feel like it, I have been moving my items out of there and will have nothing for sale by their You Must Comply Date.  They are headed down the wrong path, but they will have to figure it out for themselves without me.

I realize that most retail sales sites have guest checkout, but it you think about it, they ask for lost of information before you can checkout.  I hope Etsy will do the same.

Agree with John G.  Etsy has way too much involvement with our shops and takes way too long to pay us.

Guest checkout seems like  a no brainer and the buy it now glitches are real.

For so many reasons, it is getting harder and harder to sell genuine vintage and handmade on Etsy.

JohnGermaine took the words right out of my mouth.  It is MY business.  I brought it to Etsy.  They should have no say on how I get paid, when I get paid, or have any ability whatsoever to manipulate my sales through their search engine games.  Since the new changes started, my sales have also tanked.  It's my only income....or was.  I'm with the rest.  I'm moving it out as fast as I can.  Anything that remains there will be sugar on my toast, but not my main meal.  But my main meals are coming at their discretion now that I have to wait for my money!  In my PayPal account, I could make the money today and eat today.  This BS is for the birds.
