If eBay's voracious bot infestation has the nads to flag alleged 'violations', one can only wonder why they aren't hovering at the intake ports, so to 'alert' all the scofflaw sellers BEFORE a listing is accepted into the eBay warehouse-o-anxiety.  Then again, that might severely impact the ability of the board to boast their new listing 'numbers'.  And collect the fees, even if eventually only floated.

It would also be interesting to learn how many (other type) 'listing policy violations' might have been sent to say, China during this 'nacht der debrochenen listings'.  Do their bots even 'speak' Mandrin?

On another website I learned of a site I-ways https://bulkchecker.i-ways.net/ebay/en-us
Everybody should go to that site it will automatically check your store for https violations.
Of course EB never tells you this, you have to find out from fellow ebayers.

why is ebay still putting on links to other websites that have this httml link to my ebay items is this not breading there rules and making and it will make my item saying it is not a secure item??

We make more ''off ebay sales''  then ever before, regardless of what they do, their poorly programmed brainless bots, and policies are not going to change a thing, Our customers know our prices and product selection is much better from our website or any other venue then ebay.

Today, most brands and products have their own websites and or distributors, ebay is fighting a loosing battle, they are trying to control something that is impossible and they are certainly loosing, they are wasting their recourses and money trying to fight it, at the same time upsetting their paying customers (the sellers), a two sided destructive failure

They still think and act as if they are the only place on the internet to buy stuff,  someone needs to gently break the news to ebay that ''those days are long gone''.

While I know who he is, I'm not sure why anyone would.  In the old days he was one of eBay's biggest fans, and I believe that he was writing and selling guides to selling on eBay. Big self promoter, but since this is ecommerce and all about recognition I can't blame him for that.

He suffered the same fate that many of the rest of us did which is a lack of visibility on eBay which turns $100K businesses into hobby sales. eBay traded in their small seller loyalty for enterprise seller loyalty.  I am unclear however why Skip is referred to as an expert.

As for this article, another big mess on eBay. eBay creates the mess and sellers are expected to (ALWAYS) clean it up.   And as someone above posted, always crying wolf.

LOL   I HEART this comment.  You nailed it MaxMad.  Their arrogance and their heavy handed treatment of sellers is killing  them and they don't even know it. I guess that they have to have someone to blame for their own ineptitude.

Instead of complaining about Ebay for the 247th time on here (and they have deserved it....247 times BTW..) i offer you a quick fix....
1.) If you are using ANY 3rd party listing tools....STOP- revoke their token in your account under Site Preferences....IMMEDIATELY
2.) Go into one of your listings that is in violation, edit the listing, go to the description field, select HTML, and copy the offending line of code, and then delete it
3.) Do a bulk edit----- Go to DESCRIPTION, FIND and REPLACE, enter the code into the FIND field, and replace it with a .
4.) It takes these idiots up to 72 hours to get it fixed, and off of your "listings with policy violations" report
5.) If you must use Sixbit,Auctive, Inkfrog,  or any of the other 3rd party tools, tell them that unless they can stop with the HTTP content being fed to Ebay, they are FIRED
I didnt take it seriously until recently, as I am 100% convinced that the offending listings are being suppressed by not Google, but EBAY!!!

I self host pictures and a background image. My domain doesnt support https. Either it will cost $200 a year to get https or there will be some convoluted method to install a free ssl that has to be redone every 3 months. It seems ebay isnt going to be blocking listings, but instead just the "see full desc." Crap

I used the I-ways site Chicago mentioned above.  I already had an account from months ago.

Report says I have HTTPS "issues" on 104 of 261 listings.

Click to the report for a specific listing (which contains 8 pictures), and only 3 are shown.  Click to Create a New Report for this listing only, and shows different pictures.  Clicked New Report several times, and got a variety of the picture numbers, but no more than 3 at any one time.

These are pics that were newly loaded to inkFrog on Sunday and used for the first time.

Also clicked to the specific report for a listing that had no showing issues in the general report, and ran a new report on just that listing, and an issue showed up in the new report.

@Froggy Yeah, feeBay can 'block' your 'violating' listings. As if with the Hiss Poor sell-thru, you'd even notice the diff!

Sad! What they should do is send violation notices to all the criminal counterfeiters in China and elsewhere that are selling all the trademark infringing and unlicensed items on ebay. Its a virtual cesspool of counterfeit and unlicensed items and its clearly condoned!!

I recently reported one that had massive numbers of counterfeit items for all the sports leagues, Nascar, Spiderman, Disney, Superman, and MANY MANY other trademarked characters. Their entire store was made up of fake counterfeit trademark infringing items.. Vero takedowns of over 1000 items in 4 separate incidents, YET the criminal is STILL selling tons of counterfeit stuff and has better sales that most of us.. You would think that he would be restricted or been booted off, but no he's selling better than most of us.. Its a joke but the joke is on us, the legitimate honest retail seller on ebay....

In 2001, GW said are you with US or are you with the TERRORISTS after the 9/11 attack?! Well, we could ask ebay the same thing, are you with LEGITIMATE HONEST SELLERS or are you with the CRIMINAL COUNTERFEITERS?! I think the answer to that question is pretty damn clear and we should all revolt and let our feelings known about it. My niches have been all but destroyed by the criminal counterfeiters..

I would challenge all the sellers on this forum to report anyone in their niche that is selling counterfeit items to the license holder or owner. The more we do this, the more we can weed out and disrupt the criminal elements, and maybe the brass in San Jose will take notice and do the same.. LET'S DO IT!

PS: And don't think this is a small problem. I used a 3rd party tool to show the volume this ONE SELLER had done so far this year, and it was over $700,000!! Put that in your crockpot and stew over it for awhile......

Our buyers are contacting us and telling us they get messages stating "ebay is not secure site" when they want to make a purchase. They are asking us everyday if they can buy our products somewhere other  than ebay.  Never seen this before in our 14 years on ebay.

Also we have the same exact listings on Amazon, they are fine on Amazon, just not on ebay's servers. Ebay can't get out of it's own way.

Google made an IT engineer their CEO, eBay has a lawyer who has no tech background at all running the show who was hired by a con man who is nothing but a White Collar Wall Street Criminal.

Now do you know why Microsoft & Google have security warnings up on eBay's pages for years now?

Devin has the Board of Directors fooled, and they are the people responsible for this folly in the end, Devin needs to be escorted out of the HQ building by eBay security or this company is going to fail, eBay is the next Yahoo.

Does anyone know if I use their app to do my listings will they be screwed up too.  I would have thought they would have corrected their own app to take care of this issue but there I go thinking again.

I got the message as well and removed any links, etc.  Easy to do.  Just go to the html and scan down.  Or use the find tool for anything .com that is used as a link.

The https rule doesn't mean I will lose listings.  Those that I can't change will have the link see item description.  The rest I fix one at a time when I relist them.
