Etsy Launches Multi-Seller Checkout

I don't have the new checkout yet either, but I've been reading about it in the forums.

Apparently shoppers can only use one coupon code per checkout. And there's also some concern that the coupon code might accidentally get applied to the entire purchase rather than the one shop where it belongs. Whoops!

I've never used ''saved for later,'' but apparently those things are not organized by shop. This definitely needs to get fixed!

I wonder if Etsy could help eBay fix their pretend checkout so buyers don't have to pay postage on multiple purchases from the same seller & then ask for a refund.....if the postage cost doesn't put them off buying altogether!

Etsy is doubling down to screw the sellers.  They just removed the Paypal icons to force buyers into direct checkout.

This is just another thuggish move by Chad & Co.  When is the Attorney General or Federal Prosecutor going to do something about these crooks?

Flying Childers: First of all, it's a move I had not anticipated because I thought they had such a shopping cart in place. Second, anyone who has a PayPal account KNOWS that they can use their credit card to pay via PayPal. Removing the icons only clears the confusion. Buyers are not "forced" into using Direct Checkout. They have the option to use it, and why would you want to force buyers to use PayPal alone? Figure it out, or do your research before you go off half-cocked.

Reading in the Forums about Sellers not getting paid for days or weeks by Etsy has stopped me from signing up for their Direct Checkout.  There were other objections I had after reading their TOU as well.  When I see that Etsy is solvent enough to keep Checkout stable and I stop hearing about the major SNAFUs on a regular basis...maybe.  If they try and force people like me into it, we just leave.  

My sales dropped off a cliff (not found in searches?) when they launched the new format they felt was viewed better by cell phones.  I am already thinking about moving on.

Responding to TMoore:  please understand that most people simply do not read anymore.  They don't read item descriptions, they don't read payment options, they don't read the terms of special orders, etc. etc.  This is just the way it is these days because the education system no longer teaches children how to read and write.  

So we have millions of people who are functional illiterates who can't write a simple sentence in the English language, but who have been taught that everything can be done with the push of a button or the swipe of a finger across a screen.

99.9% of the buyers online fit this description, even the ones who use Etsy.  If they put something in the cart and get as far as checkout, then see two buttons, one for direct checkout with credit card icons and the other with a Paypal button that says nothing, they will pick the DC button every time.

I will never understand people who come on this forum who have such a nasty attitude toward the hard working sellers of Etsy and Ebay.  Do you honestly think that we come here because we want to get abused by people who have no idea what the hell they are talking about?

ECB is one of the best places for sellers to exchange information and even gripes about what is being done in the online market places.  There are many very established and successful sellers who come here and share their wealth of knowledge with others.

If you don't have something factual to add to the discussion, maybe you should label your remarks as "opinion."

it implies paypal check out doesn't  include accepting credit cards 😠  my sales have plummeted since they removed the credit card icons from the cart.  didn't  realize this had happened until a couple of previous customers  emailed me.  i just invoiced them and asked them to contact me directly for  future orders.  etsy is now all but dead for me.
