eBay Makes Major Change to Seller Feedback

eBay is making a major change to seller feedback as part of its Spring Seller Update 2014. eBay will eliminate two Detailed Seller Rating criteria in what will be a welcome part of the changes.

eBay will replace the four individual Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) as the main way eBay evaluates seller performance with a new single measure called the "transaction defect rate." Item as Described and Shipping Time will remain. The factors that make up a seller's defect rate include the following:

- Detailed seller rating of 1, 2 or 3 for Item as Described;

- Detailed seller rating of 1 for Shipping Time;

- Negative or neutral feedback;

- Return initiated for a reason that indicates the item was not as described;

- eBay Money Back Guarantee (previously known as eBay Buyer Protection) or PayPal Purchase Protection case opened for an item not received or an item not as described;

- Seller-cancelled transactions.

Starting in August, sellers can have a maximum 5% of transactions with one or more transaction defects over the most recent evaluation period. Only transactions with U.S. buyers will count.

eBay will implement the new defect rate as a seller performance measure in August.

eBay will be holding online workshops to help sellers understand the new standards on March 13 at 1 pm Pacific and on March 26 at 11 am Pacific.

eBay's seller checklist:

Other changes are on the way in the U.S., including changes to Managed Returns and a new extended holiday return policy. And in an effort to optimize for Google, eBay is making category and item specific changes.

Another change likely to be unpopular is changes to tracking: Top Rated Sellers, who must have tracking uploaded to eBay on 90% of their transactions within their stated handling time, must now have validated tracking numbers - meaning ones that eBay can validate - eBay must receive at least one carrier scan.

The more I learn about eBay's race to self-destruction, taking as many paying customers with it as possible, the happier I am that I list elsewhere.

No rational person with an interest in business can do business with such an unpredictable outfit.

I list on eBid, pay no listing fees, and make money for me.

Thank you for always keeping us up to date with all the goings on with Ebay. I would just like Ebay sellers to know that there is a petition they can sign if they are not happy with what Ebay is doing with this new seller update. Maybe you can help get the word out to all the Ebay sellers like me who are scared to death by this new update. Thank You

This is ridiculous!

This is eBay's way of recouping some of that 20 discount they have been "giving" to Top-Sellers.
They realized they could make money by subtraction.
But it would have looked so greedy to just cancel the Top Rated discount.
By implementing these nearly unreachable requirements, they get the full 10% Final Value Fee, and keep dumb sellers reaching for perfection(but failing) just like before.
So there is virtually no falloff in selling standards. 2% defect rate is like 3.5 defect rate when a Neutral rating wasn't a F**king defect??

I just qualified for Top-Rated status 2 months ago, after busting my A** to get everything to PO in time...
Now because of 4 neutrals(3 were dubious from new buyers) I have a 3.52% defect rate projected to Aug 20th!

IN WHAT
WORLD IS
NEUTRAL=NEGATIVE?

i STILL HAVE 100% POSITIVE 93% UPLOADED TRACKING, but I will be a "standard" seller with 700 stars- and 12 years on eBay?

So now, I am going to assume all buyers are going to screw me.

No more leaving feedback.
Goodbye tracking and fast shipping...
eBay will get their 20% FVF back(which I feel is why they are really doing this)

HELLO AMAZON!!!

I could care less about losing a whole 10 bucks a month in eBay FVF.
Most of us will make this up by not having to use tracking, etc...

But, I did seems to notice better sales as a Top-Rated seller, as oppossed to Above Standard.
Obviously, I was the same guy, same junk, wording, brain, etc...
I attributed the increse in this alleged "bump in best match search" gReedBay claimed to give us.

Does anyone think this helped them, or was it another sham laid out by the denizens of Delusion?

(I have no clue what that even means?

Sorry...)

be careful  from  seller ronaldbower2012  !!!!!!

i ordered brand new timberland boots at August. i receive poor quality. after i talk to this seller we agreed that i will send the shoes back, and get refund. the seller promise that when the shipment arrives he will contact me. after one and 1/2 month i asked whats going on, and he said it arrived and forgot to tell me. since than i chased him for 2 months, at start he ignored all my messages, and when i threatened him i'll leave bad feedback he gave excuses that he need my email and other problems with paypal (i got refund before from another seller so its not true) . i sent the mail, and gave him solution for paypal. since than- he ignored me again. and didnt answer my messages.

Bottom line- ronaldbower2012 kept the shoes and my money (120 gbp!!).. he took advantage of the fact that it has been more than 60 days and ebay cant help, and i cant open a case. he tricked me.he is not honest. since august i chased him, until today.... be careful from this seller..

i have everything documented.
