eBay is experiencing another outage, according to EcommerceBytes readers and reports from around the web. "I am writing to let you know that Ebay appears to be down again this evening," said a reader.
"I have been unable to access MyEbay or my selling page for about an hour," he continued. "I can log on to the main site page. These problems began at 3:40 PM EDT according to downdetector.com and hit me approximately two hours later."
Other readers reported the problem on Ecommerce EKG. Said one eBay seller from UK, "Another glitch on ebay.co.uk tonight and it's a cracker. Cannot place bids on auctions!! I have tried 5 different items (and 5 individual sellers) on my watch list that end tomorrow and not one will accept a custom bid or one of ebay's suggested bids. I thought my auctions had been quiet tonight, now I know why!!"

Another responded, "Not just U.K. The U.S. site has totally fallen apart. Feedback fell to 0, cant't list items can't find my store etc. Worst crash I have seen in years."
DownDetector.com is also getting many reports of problems, both in the U.S. and UK.
eBay has been experiencing many technical issues and outages, seeming to strike the site on the weekend. With this being a holiday weekend in the U.S. and with Canada's Thanksgiving next week, one can't help begin to wonder if external forces (hackers) may be involved - they're known for keeping track of holidays as good times to play mischief.
With the holiday shopping season gearing up, and with eBay driving traffic to the site with a new campaign that kicks off on Monday, site instability is a major concern to sellers. |
