eBay Makes Big Changes in 2017 Fall Seller Release

My only issue with the seller update this time around is removal of watermarked images. I got so freaking tired of people stealing my photos that I started watermarking mine. Now I'm supposed to go back and take all new photos??
A person has a right to claim their own images so they're not copied and used as competition. What the * expletive * is eBay's thinking on this one?

TWO TROUBLING ISSUES WITH THIS UPDATE:

''Beginning this fall, refund up to 50% of the item price if the return is damaged or missing parts''

So a buyer can strip valuable parts and pieces from, for example, a vintage item, and only have to pay 50% of the item price? If a buyer does not send an item back in the same condition, their right to return should be completely waived, not enabled. Another victory for scammers and all buyers with less-than-honest intentions.

''Starting in October, eBay will automatically accept a return request when the buyer pays for return shipping''

How long does this last? This is not addressed. And if a restocking fee is not placed onto the listing, the seller will be required to eat the cost of original shipping for all remorse returns.

At least eBay is not forcing 100% free returns or Guaranteed Delivery onto all sellers (yet).

I think eBay has already been promoting listings with guaranteed delivery.   I opted in a few weeks ago (the one-day shipping option) and my sales are significantly up since then.

I have had it with eBay.  Look out Bonanza!  You are about to have a slew of new listings.  eBay management is RUINING  the site.  Been a member since 1998, and it  has DETERIORATED year by year.  The money gravy train is over for them and their stock holders.  Going public was their NUMBER ONE MISTAKE.  Eff you eBay!

We have always opted out on returns and do not accept returns at all on ebay.

We have accepted returns but out listings say we do not accept returns. So I wonder now if we will not be able to opt out of returns and if we will be forced to accept returns.
I don't have a problem with that but I wish they would make that clearer.
As far as watermarks on images that is not allowed on any other site so anyone could see that coming. Also it cannot be used in the catalog with watermarks so that goes along with the building of the ebay catalog. Most sites will not allow manequins or other items in the photo either. Fasten your seatbelt and prepare for those policies in the future.

Am I the only one realizing ebay is becoming a corporate whore site to become another Amazon , its moved away from being a simple auction site it used to be and is blowing up into something simple individuals never wanted to be incorporated into?  This is pure BULLS*%t! Sellers should not be forced into this new ebay world, they should have the option to stay in the old ebay world and let sellers , like stores, companies best buy, new egg, etc go into this new ebay structure.  They should have the simple auction site for home sellers and smaller ebay stores and then have this more advanced ebay for sellers like new egg, toys r us, best buy, and corporations that want to be like amazon.
I think everyone is starting to forget how fun and simple ebay used to be to simply sells some odds and ends on here. in short CORPORATIONS that take over smaller business = DESTRUCTION. Ebay can suck it, we should have a choice to sell like we used to and larger corporations can sell on the new amazo...i mean ebay they are trying to build.     or , do the enviable...SELL EBAY TO FUC*%NG AMAZON, Because thats what its becoming anyway.  eventauly us smaller ebay stores and simple home sellers will no longer be able to sell on ebay and a new site will arise, HELL , I'LL BUILD the damn site myself and have 95% less rules then the ebay has and I will not let super stores sell on the site....LETS MAKE EBAY GREAT AGAIN! ha!

I agree with Moonmyst, the taking away of watermarks is what upsets me the most... I take the time to photograph my products, they are not unique & my photographs help me sell items other sellers are also carrying.  Now one of these other sellers can just steal my photos for their listing?!?!

The problem with eBay are the sellers themselves who go along with things like Sellers Hub, Promoted listings, eBay return policies and subscribing to their rip off store scams.

Sellers should only list on eBay with free listings and should always sell with NO RETURNS.

Do not run in fear of the highly moronic top executives who have run the marketplace into the ground, start moving your listings to other portals.

I offer returns, but, NOT 'free returns'. Makes no sense.

The "Guaranteed Delivery" in essence means you ship everything Priority Mail. Probably 70% of what I send is First Class. It also is saying that this requires you use Ebay labels. I use Stamps.com to manage multiple ebay / amazon accounts this is never going to happen.

I sell antiques to grownups.
I don't need guaranteed returns.
The buyer grownup contacts the seller grownup...
we work it out and the relationship flourishes.

If a buyer sends back an item missing anything..they will not be getting a refund at all. End of story.

EBay you are a scammers paradise. You are not to be trusted.

It's business a usual on my eBay site.  I stopped jumping through hoops a while back.  I've found success on other sites. If I get a sale on eBay, fine.  If not, I won't lose any sleep.

I will not participate in the customer coddling gimmicks.  I give great customer service as is, and that should be enough.  I will not foot the bill for the fickle and those who want immediate gratification.

For the Guaranteed Delivery policy, it isn't necessary to ship PM.  There are 2 options under this policy in which you can choose from if you consider signing up.  

The First option is handling time [HT].  For sellers that are TRS +, it doesn't change a thing for them. They can do as they have always done to keep and maintain their TRS+ status to also comply with the Guaranteed Delivery HT option.  If you are not experiencing problems on your TRS+ listings, you will probably have no issues with the HT option.

It certainly isn't right for every seller, but then what is really.  We are all a diverse group of people.  While some things work well for some sellers, it doesn't for others.

Going the route of having a No Return policy does not do much to help a seller.  ALL sellers with a No Return Policy are subject to Ebay's Money Back Guarantee.  So if your buyer files a Request for Return, you will need to work the problem out with your buyer or let Ebay step in and force it.

Sellers still will have 3 Business days in which to respond to a Request without Ebay stepping in.  It has always been in a Seller's best interest to use the time wisely.

This is NOT going to affect primarily small sellers, it affects ALL sellers with the possible exception of the Mega Sellers.
