Is USPS Delivering for Sellers on Sundays?

I live in the middle of no where. Nearest half arse city is 15 miles away. Got an amazon prime delivered by the Post Office today.

Today is Sunday.
USPS just delivered, 5 minutes ago, a package to my house from Macys department store.

Sunday delivery? HAH: I sent a pricey iorder to Nashville from PA on 11/19 - and it has bounced around Nashville since 11/25.  Allegedly out for delivery 3x; returned to sender for "insufficient address" (it was sufficient for other delivery services); NOT returned to sender, but sent to yet another Nashville usps facility; then allegedly out for deliver 12/8 - and then, dead-lettered. In total, besides 2 bounces in Knoxville, there were (no kidding) 11 separate 'verified' bounces logged in just Nashville.

Annoying always that when I pay for Priority Mail 1-3 day delivery it takes 5-10 days with no refund  - but this one is a real case for the history books. The buyer ordered a similar item from Germany at the same time - and received it last week.

I don't know who Mr. DeJoys minions deliver to on Sunday - I know it's not me or mine.

I received USPS packages Friday after 7pm as well as Sunday.
Maybe they are just trying to compete with FedEx and UPS?

That would be a nice change and good business decision in my opinion.

We don't get USPS Sunday delivery here in mid state Illinois, but I got my Amazon purchase on Sunday.

USPS has the CCAs delivering packages in our City on the past 2 Sundays and it is expected on the next 2 Sundays. Time will tell if USPS management will have the regular carriers on the overtime list also delivery on Christmas Eve to get all the packages they have at the post offices that day delivered. The CCA's are also doing package collections from the stores that have outgoing packages that are open on Sunday.

I have not received any Sunday deliveries and the same for my customers.

It is 50/50 if my pick ups get scanned. They have been sitting at the local branch 1-2 days before they are moved to the distribution center. Then the packages sit there for 24-72 hours before moving again. Everything is very delayed.

On the other hand, Amazon has been delivering early or right on time. The same with Walmart and Target who have been using Fedex.

No Sunday delivery here.  The USPS is doing a horrible job ALREADY, which started before Thanksgiving.  Few examples:

Priority package going from NJ to CA: Left NJ and went to Baltimore then Washington DC, finally to CA - late delivery.

Priority package going from NJ to NC: Left NJ and didn't arrive in NC for 7 days!

Ground Advantage going from NJ to NJ: Left NJ and took a vacation in TX before returning to NJ - late delivery, of course.

Local mail carrier has been delivering Shop-Rite flyers from 2 weeks past because they did not receive them timely.

This past Saturday, local mail carrier picked up packages early (before 10 AM) because he was getting a jump on things because the local post office had not yet received its mail delivery.

If nothing else, something is going seriously wrong at the sorting facilities in NJ because it is clear that is where the problems are occurring.

So, you tell me, how do you think the USPS is doing?  Not so good, huh?

My carrier told me here today that regular City carriers can voluntary to delivery packages this Sunday in our City. Management needs a certain number so if they are doing it this Sunday they should be Christmas Eve as well.

I saw a USPS truck next door at 7:00 am last Sunday.  It appears that they are delivering on Sunday.

USPS’s contract with Az stipulates 7 day week deliveries.  Not all USPS delivery units (typically but not always one per zip code, some do multiple zips) will have them though, because AZ does ALL their own in those.  Sunday AZ  packages are dropped at the USPS units early Sun AM and sorted for delivery that morning.  Also true for Monday ‘holidays’.

During peak volume, Sunday AZ deliveries by USPS may also include some UPS SurePost parcels dropped off Sat pm intended for Monday if  volume and time permit. Those zones without AZ may deliver the UPS on Sunday if they ‘choose’ to pay the carriers that day. If not though, you won’t see one out on Sunday in your zip.

Since regular USPS mailstream pacels are NOT dropped on Sat (except Sat AM for Sat delivery) those are not typically delivered on Sunday - except for any re-attempts that might be tried.  However, because those are typically being ‘handled’ by the regular route carrier (Sundays use carrier assistants (CCAor RCA - city, rural)) those may not go until Monday either.

This is what ‘typically’ happens, however there may be some specific unit or regional differences that provide for Sunday Network parcel delivery during holiday peak, but those are rare.  May be an uptick on Christmas Eve (a Sunday) depending on volume and IF those are dropped Sat PM or early Sun AM.
