Facebook Stiffs Online Sellers in April due to 'Temporary Issue'

By: Ina Steiner

Sellers accuse Facebook of withholding payments this month on transactions made through its platform. "Facebook has not paid some Facebook shop sellers since April 1. There is a technical problem that is not being fixed," an EcommerceBytes reader informed us on Friday.

The problem would obviously apply only to those sellers who use Facebook to process payments on their behalf - and it's not certain how many of those are impacted. Sellers who use Facebook to sell locally often deal directly with buyers to work out payments.

A quick search found other reports, such as a bookseller who posted a note to followers on April 14 saying they would not be listing new books until Facebook solved a glitch that caused it to withhold payments from sellers.

On Reddit, a seller said they were not able to view a balance or receive payments for their Facebook transactions handled through its Commerce Manager checkout. The seller posted on April 17 that Facebook had displayed the following message for weeks:

"We are experiencing a temporary issue and are unable to display your balance at this time. Please check again later."

If you're experiencing issues with payouts from Facebook or other platforms, let us know.

Anything associated or affiliated with Zuckerberg is a waste of brain cells and binary code.

It's funny how all these "glitches" technology sites have, including eBay, always seem to fall in favor of the site owners, never in favor of the users or sellers.

What a coincidence!

If you're still using the FBMP Payment service you almost deserve to be cheated. It's been so widely reported that there is no CS and if you have a problem there is no recourse--but there is always the group who chimes in "I've never had a problem." I always want to reply with the single word "yet."  Anyone with a bit of sense stopped taking FB Pay as soon as the first problems were reported.

Our small business sells on a few online platforms, and Facebook Shops is one of them. We encountered this issue - no payouts since the end of March for us. Contacted FB customer service but no luck and no answers from them (unless you count your standard ''we're working on it'' response) for almost two weeks. Finally, I searched several Facebook Shop groups on the platform and that is when I learned that many, many others were having this same problem. There's a simple fix to get deposits rolling again: delete your existing banking info on Business Manager, then re-enter it. Once I did this, Facebook deposited our back-logged payouts within a day, which was a relief. But to say we're concerned about this would be a huge understatement. Our Facebook shop has been very successful and really made up the difference in our income since sales on eBay and Etsy have slowed substantially in the last few months. We went from steady sales on those two platforms to a trickle. However, since we're not in the biz of giving product away for free, we're going to be re-thinking the whole Facebook store thing.

It's not the first time and I am sure it won't be the last, I have been fortunate enough to be able to get hold of "live" people to help get issues resolved with the exception of one, still no 1099k, even after speaking to someone on a phone call about the issue.  I am not the only one, there are 10's of thousands of sellers who can't do their taxes because they didn't get their 1099k's from Facebook (sent by PayPal) and have had no luck contacting either PayPal or Facebook to resolve the issue.

For most people it's a simple to figure out, but when you've done 100k plus in sales we need that info to properly do them.

So towards the end of april I have been unable to see what my payouts are, and if they do go through are slow.  3 Larger ticket items have disappeared off my (To be paid) list and have now shown will be paid when delivered and they all show delivered, in fact one buyer thanked me for a great packing job.  I have been going back and forth with FB Marketplaces moronic email help and they are still looking into it.  Looking into what? Clearly the items have been delivered Pay me what you owe me.  Frustrating!

Has anyone figured out what causes the “technical” error warning that prevents your payouts from showing?  I’m running into issues with my Facebook business shop not showing any pending payouts for orders that were delivered and I get the run around from Facebook,

To make it worse, I was posting on marketplace  from my personal Facebook as well and when I hit $600 it disabled my ability to ship, but didn’t ask me to verify my tax information to unlock. I spoke with Facebook and they told me that it was the verification. So I took care of it. Now it’s been a week plus and it’s still “verifying”. It says it typically takes 2 days and anything over that I should reach out to them.

Well, now I can’t get a live person in a chat, only email support. That take days to respond and the. Just give a cookie cutter reply. I just want what is owed and I’ll stop selling on Facebook. This has been absolutely terrible.

Facebook is run by a pseudo communist and they do not care what any free people can do.
It is the state of our country today and will be that way until the woke liberals are thrown out.

I have been selling for quite awhile on and off on Facebook Marketplace with no problems then all of a sudden I hadn't received payout on the items that were sold, delivered and great review in beginning the first of December and so i clicked on the contact support for each item and with each item received the same email giving me suggestions on facebook help to answer my questions, I couldn't believe there was no help just automated email with no follow up no nothing and yet facebook thinks we should be okay with this?  I needed this money last month for Christmas as I stated in my message to marketplace and nothing has been done to help.  I'm at a loss not sure what to do it seems anymore sellers get jerked around afterall facebook makes sure they get paid in these transactions first thing which is odd they remove their portion and just decide not to send mine!
