Etsy to Sellers on Billing Crisis: Take It Up with the USPS

The USPS is clawing funds from Etsy sellers' accounts for packages sent at least as far back as December. After Etsy fixed a glitch that had prevented sellers from seeing which shipping label were impacted, the marketplace told sellers to take up their individual disputes directly with the USPS.
While that would be a correct and satisfactory response under normal circumstances, yesterday's advice ignores the fact that sellers are reporting incorrect notices of underpaid postage on a large scale, a problem that appears to be unique to Etsy.
Etsy did not say whether it investigated the possibility of a technical issue with its integration with the USPS. There are no reassurances from Etsy that its shipping team investigated the widespread reports of incorrect underpaid-postage notices, leaving each seller to individually dispute with the USPS the shipping labels they obtained through Etsy's website.
And Etsy's response to sellers' concerns, published on Thursday on its Technical Issues board, follows below:
[UPDATE] USPS Adjustments on 02/15 & 02/16
Hi there, We experienced an issue that delayed USPS adjustments from posting to some Shop Payment Accounts. This issue is now resolved.
As of February 16, delayed adjustments have been posted. If you’d like to file a dispute with USPS for these adjustments, please check out this article.
We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused.
Some sellers had indicated they might stop using Etsy to print shipping labels for their orders. Seeing how Etsy continues to handle this situation, that may be the end result. |
